“I—” I glanced down at the cut and frowned. As much as I wanted to shoo him away, he was right. I’d been more worried about Val’s burns and getting away from Fenris than I had my own injury. Before I could protest, he knelt down in front of me, taking my hand with far more care than I’d ever imagined him capable of. He spread my palm, saying nothing as he opened an alcohol swab. I tried to tug my hand back but Fenris held me fast. He continued to dab at the cut, undeterred by my flinch, my struggle.
