I turned my hand, grabbing his arm while ignoring the stinging cuts on my palm. “I hate you, you arrogant bastard,” I muttered, willing myself to believe it. It sounded like a lie, though, even to me, and I pressed a kiss to his cheek before he could comment. Fenris inhaled sharply, and as he turned to look at me, I could see his nostrils flare, his pupils blown. Some part of me was thrilled that he looked at me like that, like I was the most beautiful woman he’d ever laid eyes on.
