Eleanor's pov
A harsh ray of light hit my eyelids, forcing me to squint even with my eyes closed. I turn over on my side, getting a little bit too comfortable on the cold, soft and silky bed. But then a realization hit me— I had been knocked down by a car, how on earth did I end up on a soft bed!?
My eyes flipped open immediately, the first thing I saw being the beautiful, crystal chandelier that hung from the artfully crafted ceiling. I moved my gaze further down, noticing the humongous room that I was in, and the king sized bed that I lay on.
“What the hell—” I mouthed, slowly sitting up. I took a better look at the room that I was in, wondering how I landed in such a paradise. This room was two times bigger than my room back at the pack house. It did not look like the room belonged to anyone, because it was empty, having only a cupboard and a television hanging from the wall.
Who lives here? And why is it so large and white!?
I turned to my side and almost jumped when I saw the huge glass windows that covered the whole wall on that side. I could see the whole city, I was so high up!
“Hello!” I called out in fear.
Have I died and gone to meet the moon goddess?
“Hello!!” I screamed louder, my gaze fixed on the beautiful, white door that stood at a towering height. I have never seen a door that huge.
I was about to get out of bed and make a run for it when the door cracked open, smoothly opening all the way through before a middle aged woman dressed in a beautiful lemon green suit walked in. She has to be one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen at that age. Her hair was slicked back in a bun, and her steps were as graceful as she looked.
“Hello dear, nice to finally see that you're awake.” Her dimpled smile made me feel safe and warm instantly.
“Who are you? And where am I?” I questioned immediately.
“My name is Tremaine. I am the housekeeper who works for the man who saved you. And, you are in his penthouse.”
Penthouse? Man who saved me?
That was when it rang in my head, “Mate.”
Who is that man? And why did he call me his mate? There is no way I can be his mate, I am Emric's mate. I know we don't share a bond anymore since he rejected me but there's no way the moon goddess could have possibly mated me to another in such a short period of time!
“Where is he? The man who saved me.” I demanded to know, I really want to clear whatever misconception there is between us. How does he know that I am his mate?
“Well, he's not available at the moment. I'm afraid he has gone to the city for business purposes. He waited for you, he had been waiting for two days but he had to leave.” She walked over to the cupboard and picked up the glass of water on it.
Two days!? I've been out for two whole days!? Wow, I must have had a serious head injury. I'm surprised my memory is still intact, I would have loved to forget about Alpha Emric and his awful betrayal.
“Here you go dear.” She handed me the glass of water which I took a little sip out of, my mind wandering and trying to put together everything that has happened so far.
I couldn't stop thinking about the stranger and his reasons to believe that I am his mate. I long to see him, so very much.
“You know, he will be back soon. If you want to wait.” Tremaine said, like she could hear my thoughts. She stood by the bed like a butler, the smile on her face seeming more like a formality than will.
“I don't think I should stay.” I bit my lip.
“Nonsense! I insist you stay. My boss will be excited to meet you. He seems quite interested in you.” She smirked. I sighed and got out of bed, feeling a bit woozy.
“Your boss, what's his name?”
“Why, he is very popular, I'm sure you've heard of him.” She cleared her throat. “He is Alpha Kenai Valkyrie of the Red claw pack.”
Alpha Kenai… doesn't ring a bell!
“I'm afraid I don't know him. I've been cooped up in a tiny space for far too long, I don't know anybody.” I sighed again, walking over to the windows, my feet having the time of their lives on the cold, tiled floor.
This doesn't look like home, I must be far from Saffron falls pack, far enough from Emric at least. His rejection and intentions to make Ophelia his bride has broken my heart completely. I'm glad I'm away from him.
Perhaps, being mated to another Alpha is the moon goddess' way of bringing happiness back into my life. Perhaps, I will find peace here.
“But it's fine,” I turned around to face Tremaine who still hadn't moved from her position. “I will stay and wait for him to return.”
“Excellent!” She exclaimed. “I will quickly get you something to eat before the nurse gets here.”
“Nurse?” My brows furrowed. I've never really been a fan of doctors and nurses, or hospitals. I hated check ups as a kid, and I still do.
“Why do I need a nurse?”
“To give you a check up of course. You had a pretty severe head injury, so Alpha Kenai suggested a full check up to make sure you're not hurt.” She explained and smiled at me before taking fast steps out of the room, shutting the door behind her.
I remained by the window until she came back with the food. An hour later, the nurse arrived and started to run some tests on me with Tremaine in the room. She insisted on being in there with the nurse as Alpha Kenai had insisted that she kept an eye on me.
“I think my boss has arrived.” Tremaine announced and my heart missed a beat. Bands of sweat formed on my face as I thought about what Alpha Kenai looked like and what kind of a wolf he was. Would he be nice to me? I couldn't help but worry.
Tremaine rushed to look out the window and then turned to me with a rather big smile. “I'll go and welcome him, I'll be right back.” She trotted off excitedly, leaving me with the nurse who was busy on a piece of paper.
“Did you find anything? Am I gonna need a shot?” I bit my lip, retreating in fear, but she shook her head.
“No dear, you won't be needing a shot. I was gonna give you one, but after finding out about your condition, it would be a bad idea to inject you with the drug.” She explained, returning her focus to the piece of paper.
I was baffled.
“What condition? Am I sick?” I inquired.
“No dear. I'm talking about your baby. Why didn't you tell me that you were pregnant? Or— didn't you know?” She batted her lashes at me.
Preg, what!?
