Chapter 31 Luna Ceremony

Persephone's POV

I muster up all the confidence that I can, to help me take the steps necessary to walk through the door. To me, this threshold ends up representing my passageway to something amazing and I willingly take this path. I nodded at Theo, giving him a silent thank you for holding the door for me. "You look beautiful Luna.. Jayce is going to love it." he says to me as Drew nods in approval, thinking the same I'm assuming. "Yes gorgeous, like usual, I wouldn't expect anything less from MY Luna." Daniel says from behind me letting his breath feather across my shoulders before he lightly touches the small of my back as he passes. Making everyone look skeptical about his actions. "Thank you.. I hope so.. I'm nervous." I say to them, freezing once again, before I exit the house. I'm starting to lose the little bit of confidence I have.

"You will be ok, you do look gorgeous and we already know you can take care of yourself and everyone around you.. So that's most of the battle. You are already a Luna, but here you get to claim the title for yourself.. You deserve it already." Drew claims to me, making me smile and nod. He is right, just like the Moon Goddess said, I need to have confidence in myself. It's confusing to me because I just don't understand how it takes me so long to build up confidence, when it's so easily taken away without much effort at all. I let out a deep breath, nodding at them to try to gain some back before I lose it again.

I exit the house to see everyone from the pack is here and standing at attention like the biggest being-made wall I have ever seen, making it almost feel crowded, even if we are outside. But with my smaller-than-them size, I'm sure I blend in better than any of us expected.. I really do seem to be smaller than everyone around with no exaggeration, well except the kids.. I'm taller than them at least. I look all around at the crowded area, sending out smiles and luckily, getting them right back. That's before I connect my gaze with Jayce's. When they get locked up with his gorgeous orbs, there is no going back, because he knows how to entice me to no end. His eyes are filled with so much love and passion, creating a song in my head that pulls me straight to him. His eyes know how to lull my heart as if he is playing my heart strings as he sings the melody to my soul. I smile so big not even noticing anyone else around now, as if we are the only two beings in the world.

The black pants and black shirt he is wearing look absolutely enthralling, hugging his muscles so everytime he flexes, I see it. I strut up to him with all the confidence that he and only he can give me. But he is so much taller than myself and I love it, I really do. I want to get closer though. I need this, so I flutter my wings rapidly, picking me up off the ground, slowly inching up to meet his gaze, until we are almost face to face. He smiles bigger than I ever imagined, making my heart melt at that sight alone. "You look absolutely stunning." He softly states to me, creating a face-splitting smile on my features, before taking both of my hands into his.

"You look handsome, I love the black it almost makes you look mysterious.. The most mysteriously handsome Alpha I have ever seen in my entire life." I say to him, reaching up and touching his cheek before we hear his father, Fredrick, clearing his throat to get this ceremony going. "You're right father, I got very distracted by my mate. But I won't say I'm sorry because believe me I'm not." He states to everyone, still staring at me as we hear chuckling from the crowd around.

"Alright everyone, thank you for showing up today to support me in this brand new step that I have been waiting so long for. Today is the day I not only get the mate my heart has desired for so long, but also the day my pack gets their Luna after years of searching." He says projecting his voice, still only looking at me as if I'm still the only woman on this planet. I smile wide, staring deep into his eyes as the crowd erupts in cheers for their Alpha and his happiness.

Once the crowd quiets down, he states for everyone to hear, especially me. "Persephone, my intoxicating breath of light fae air.. Do you vow to dedicate yourself to not only being the support I need in any way.. but do you also vow to dedicate yourself to my family and pack? They are all apart of me and need this just as much as I do. I do know you can do this, as long as this is what you really want." He asks me as I smile even bigger than before if that was even possible, before replying. "No.." I say loudly, gaining all of their attention as they quiet down more than before, you could hear a pin drop so I continue, "I need all of you more than you could ever possibly need me. But of course, this is exactly what I want to do, for the rest of my life with you. I will dedicate every last breath of my being to be the mate and Luna that everyone needs. I'm terrified of this step but I know I can do this with the proper chance. Thank you all, for accepting and giving that opportunity to me." I say to everyone, as my mate states with the biggest smile on his face. "Now, does anyone object to Persephone taking the role as Luna? Wanting to challenge her?" he asks as there are whispers back and forth, but no one actually stands up to challenge me, which relieves my stresses. I would have hated to have to fight anyone on this beautiful day.

"Ok, without further ado, Moonrise Pack, say hello to your new Luna Persephone, the healing light fae and my goddess-given mate." Cheers erupt around us as my smile gets bigger than ever before leaning forward to kiss him. I hear him purring as I feel the vibrations on my lips. Making me smile into his.

That is before we hear, "You don't deserve her." gaining not just our attention but everyone elses. "What?" Jayce asks out loud as we break our embrace looking for the source this insult has come from... It's Daniel, who is looking livid. "Why do you deserve her? It's not fair." He states louder as Jayce steps forward in front of me while I flutter down to my feet. I take hold of his arm standing right behind him, then scoot slightly to the side to see the scene before me.

"Daniel stop.. we talked about this." Leeann states, surprising not just me but Jayce as well. "Talked about what?" Jayce asks them as Daniel steps forward with so much spite in his words. "You were right to not trust me with her before. I have been trying to steal her away and I even kissed her." After that explanation, I watch the shock and pain appear on Jayce's face as he looks down at me. I'm sad but admitted to him, "He pushed me against the wall then kissed me and when I was trying to get him to go away, Leeann helped me.. I didn't want there to be tension or any fighting between you and your little brother.. So I told him I would let him get away with it this one time, but that if he tried it again I would tell you about it.. but also here and there, Daniel has made comments to me too."

I'm so sad about this because I can see the pain in his eyes. I don't know if the hurt is caused by me, who didn't tell him this, or by his brother, who is declaring all this for everyone to hear. "I don't care if you like her Daniel, she is MY mate, not yours. She was picked for me, because she is perfect for me. This is your last warning, to stay away from my mate or there will be hell to pay." Jayce declares in my defense.

"You don't deserve her. Why you? It's not fair! She is perfectly amazing and I want her. I challenge you for Alpha." Daniel declares as I gasp at that comment, shaking my head with the many others in the crowd, before stepping around Jayce and closer to Daniel. "Daniel, stop this, you don't want me.. You just like the idea of me. Please don't destroy your relationship with your brother for me. I have told you time and time again that your brother is the only one for me and I meant it every single time I said it. Please stop this."

Before I even know what's happening, Daniel grabs my cheeks and pulls me in, pressing his lips to mine as I hear a ground rumbling roar from behind me.. It's my mate. I push Daniel away, knowing at that moment that he did something he could never take back. "I feel the connection between us. I don't care that you're my brother's mate, I can still make you happy." He says holding me in place by my arms now. "I'm sorry to hurt you Daniel, that's not what I wanted at all. But I love Jayce, not you." I say to him, trying to stop this. But by the rumbling still emerging from behind me, I know this isn't done yet.

"Get your hands off of my mate, before I rip them off. If it's really a challenge you want, then it's a challenge you will get." Jayce declares as he pulls me back to him, wrapping his arm around me posessively. "No Danny No!" Isabella yells from the crowd. "Please I don't want any of my babies to die!" She says shocking me completely. "Die?" I ask to no one in particular. "Yes since he has challenged me for my Alpha position, Tradition says that we have to fight to the death. and whoever survives, wins Alpha role and in this case.. you." Jayce says to me as he swallows the lump in his throat.

"Can't we change the rules and make it so they have to be imprisoned or something?" I ask him, just feeling bad that anyone would have to die for me, let alone my mate's brother, because I have all the confidence in the world with my mate winning this. "No my love we don't have the time for a meeting with the pack." Jayce says to me a Daniel declares. "I won't live in a life without you."

"What about your mate? You will find yours and I know it's not me. Please don't do this Daniel" I say trying to convince him to change his mind before anything starts. "I know you greatly care for my safety and happiness.. That's sweet of you Percy. But I can't live in this life watching the woman I want to be with, happy with my brother. I would have to see you guys together every day, having a growing family just striving, and I don't want that. I would be miserable.. and just meeting you has built a hatred inside of me for my brother that I know I can never get past.. So it's now or never for me. Jayce, I officially challenge you for your Alpha role." Daniel declares as everyone gasps in shock.

I shake my head uncontrollably, "No please, Jay, don't do this." I begged my mate as I hear him let out a deep breath. "I know you don't want to see anyone get hurt, but this is tradition and he has challenged me, knowing what this could result in for him and I.. and he still challenged me.. so.. I have to my love." He declares as I feel my heart racing. I can't believe this has happened on what should be a wonderful occasion.
