Chapter 22 Where I'm At

Persephone's POV

I walk away as quickly as I can from the scene outside, making sure I leave a deep impression on how they do things.. I hope I didn't offend but made an impact on the treatment that's not deserved here.

I have loved how much his family has accepted me but without the mate bond to help sway their hand, they would have tortured me all the same as this light fae.. So why not use my role as the newly found Luna to my advantage, to show them how they are treating beings is not right.

I don't care if I have to endure some hardships for this.. If my mate's feelings for me is as real as I feel they are then he will fight to have me back by his side.. The only way to do that is to change how things are here which includes changing what the norm is for these situations involving tresspassing strangers.

"You don't have to do this for me." The light prophet says to me as I coo him still continuing on slowly but surely. I have no idea where I'm going but I bet I can figure it out. "This isn't right how they are treating you and I won't let it continue on." I try to explain to him.

"Let me help you to the dungeons.. are you sure you want to do this?" I hear from Daniel who is right besides me taking the beings other arm and wrapping it around his shoulder so he can lean on him and not me.

"You don't have to do that." I say to him as he shakes his head. "I think what you're doing is admirable and I want to help.. You don't deserve to be down there but I get why you're doing it.. I just hope it works because if not you might be down there for a while.. These wolves are stubborn and have been doing this for so long now that it might be hard to break the routine for them." He replies back to me making me shrug my shoulders.

"Then so be it.. I just hope that they figure out what's right and wrong out of this so it doesn't continue on.. I don't care what happens to me as long as it helps for the future." I retort without hesitation.

"Well you left an impression with me but I don't know about your supposed mate.. he is the one that does most of the torture.. but me, I haven't layed a hand on another being.. unless they want me to." He says the last bit in a sexy tone to me, as I glance over.. but not liking the look he is giving me.. I know he is helping me right now but I still just get a bad feeling inside of me when I'm alone around him.

"Well I don't care how my mate was, because he is different now.. He has already started opening his eyes to the outside world by the situations we have already been in and I know he wants me back with him.. So hopefully he will do what he can to make this right.. but until then you know where I will be." I state as we descend down the stairs and to a dungeon area. He opens a cell for us, helping me set down the prophet on the ground.

I kneel down right besides him to help situate his hands and legs, helping him sit down as comfortably as he can, while I feel Daniel's eyes on me from the cell door. This sends a chill down my spine because I really don't like being stared at already, but his stare gives me the creeps.

Before I even know what's happening to me the prophet places his hand on my cheek, gaining my attention. "You are a genuinely beautiful light being and nothing can compare to you.. You're in a league of your own as you set strides for our kind and change the world we all know for not just us but everyone.. but jealousy will consume some around you.. Jealousy, the green eyed monster deep within us all, is a strong feeling and you need to tread lightly because not all in your inner circle can be trusted.. most but not all, so trust your inner self and how you feel because it's right and warning you of what's to come." The prophet states to me before putting his hand down in his lap again, vaguely reading my future to me before he glances at Daniel who is still in the doorway.

"What did he say to you?" Daniel asks because he notices that our attention was brought to him.. I don't know if that's a coincidence or not, but either way I will take the word of the prophet, who's life is dedicated to telling futures honestly, over Daniel's anytime of day.

"He is telling me thank you for my help and he thinks it will work as well." I say to him because it's not his future to know and I have always felt like I can't trust him so I will just listen to my body like he has informed me to do so.

"Thank you, I hope to make an impression on this way of life, because it is not right." I say back to the prophet in response. "The way of life you have dreamed is promised to be yours and will thrive in this world like grapes that thrive from the vine.. Your babies will be raised in a world that will always be tough with the dark still out there, but all of you will sustain to be the light in the deep dark. Beings of all kinds will be drawn to you just for your natural light and I need you to follow your heart with them.. guiding so many others to be better and to live better enhanced lives. Just keep fighting the good fight and no matter the trials you endure.. it will be for the best.. just remember that." He tells me taking the air from my lungs because of the shock. "My babies? I will have babies?" I say in shock as Daniel asks again. "Is everything alright? What is he saying to you?" He asks curiously but sounding almost protective of me. But I don't break my gaze from the prophet because I want to know if it was a mistake to say babies or not. I have always wanted a family, is that what he meant by the life I dreamt will be mine.

"Yes.. babies.. multiple.. with your mate who does love you unconditionally.. your heart was right by trusting him." He says to me causing a smile to emerge on my face before I say a soft. "Thank you.. I needed that." to the prophet before looking at Daniel responding back to him. "He is telling me I will have kids.. multiple.. I always wanted kids to call my own."

"I'll give you kids." He says to me under his breathe, but I heard him clearly so I respond. "What did you say?" turning to look at him. His eyes go wide because I don't think he expected me to hear that or respond.. but either way I did.

"Nothing.. are you sure you're ok in here with him?" He asks changing the subject instantly. I just nod at him before we hear a thundering down the hallway sounding like multiple sets of feet are headed our way.

Before I know it my mate has barreled into the cell slightly pushing Daniel to the side before saying. "I'm sorry Dan I didn't mean that." He turns looking at me but without a moment to lose before getting down on his knees right next to me as I'm still knelt down in front of the prophet.

With his family close behind, they all have looks of concern on their faces.. Which is good I want them to know I'm serious and this is happening whether they like it or not.. even Leeann is here which is something I wasn't expecting.

"My love please don't do this.. I know it's not right but it has been our way of life that has saved us too.. Yes this time wasn't fair and something should have been done about it.. but this is something I can't just change.. If we are going to change rules we have to discuss things with the pack and that will take time.. I don't want you down here like this.. you deserve better than this." My mate says with so much concern on his face for me.

I just smile and shake my head at him before reaching over, gently touching his cheek. "It's ok that it will take time, as long as it changes.. You know where I will be when it does.. Don't worry my love, this will all be for the best.. and I have slept on the ground all my life.. sleeping on this floor is not going to change anything.. I'm ok.. do whatever you need to do to take care of this.. It's what's best for the future of this pack and us.. The prophet told me this will be hard but it will change lives not just our packs but other beings as well.. Change WILL come with the future of this pack, it will be for the best and that's all I want for all of us.. So I will do what needs to be done, just please do the same." I explain to him as he let's out a defeated breathe before reluctantly nodding, flowed by a groan.

"I will take care of this for you." He says to me as I shake my head, "Don't do it for me.. Do it because it's what's right for everyone." I say to him as I lean in and press my lips lightly to his.

He purrs to me before he stands and quickly leaves the cell to take care of things.

"Well that's admirable of you sweetheart and I just want you to know for your own peace of mind.. Jayce never partook in beating of individuals.. but he never stopped it either because it is our way of life when it comes to trespassers on our land.. it doesn't make it right I know.. but I just wanted to make sure you know he wasn't that kind of man." his mother states to me as I send her a small smile before nodding.

That comment does make me feel better but I already knew in my heart he wasn't that kind of man.. But what that also proves is that Daniel was lying to me earlier about his brother.. but why?

I glance up at Daniel before responding to Isabella, "I knew he wasn't that kind of man.. but the reassurance is always nice.. thank you." Daniel rolls his eyes as he keeps staring at me. I think he knows that I noticed his lie as well.

"Well I do have to say, I never noticed how wrong it is until now and I completely agree with you.. I'm still not ok with you being here but I'm ok with what your standing for." Leeann says to me before she stares at me then to Daniel curiously. I watch her turn and walk away from us before I hear Fredrick say, "I'm sorry this has all started off on the wrong foot but I like what your doing and voting your way. We will make this go as fast as we can, but we have always prided ourselves on letting everyone in the pack have an opinion. So we can't just change things without talking to them." He says to me as I smile and nod at him before he turns and limps with his cane down the hallway as his mate Isabella follows.

Roxie looks so sad just staring right at me as she says a quick, "I'm sorry we aren't what you expected." I shake my head before retorting, "You guys have been more than I ever expected or wanted, I couldn't be happier to call you family.. but sometimes you have to stand up for what's right even if it's against the people you adore. I think you all are amazing in your own ways but sometimes great people makes mistakes too.. and it's ok.. I have always dedicated my life to helping beings who can't help themselves so this is not anything different for me.. I'll be ok." I explain to her as best as I can.

She sadly nods her head and turns to leave but curiously turns back around to say, "Come on Daniel let's get all this taken care of." He nods at her as he glances back at me before stating, "I'll be back to check up on you." I nod my head at him just watching the both of them leave, shutting the cell door behind them.. leaving me in this place for who knows how long. Let's get this done with.. and hope it doesn't take too long.
