Chapter 02
Kidnapped
“It’s not safe to land yet.”
“Then do something about it! Don’t just stand there. Don’t wait until I resolve this problem myself.”
The loud roar made me open my eyes. My palms were sweating as I looked around. My hands tied up, mouth covered with cloth as Damian cradled me like I’m his bride… though I wasn’t.
He’s holding me captive like a prisoner. His eyes caught mine, he showed a dangerous grin.
The chopper blowing our hair, and silencing the world as we stare at each other… I could sense danger but in his arms… why do I feel a sense of security and safety?
“You’re awake.” I refuse to speak.
I couldn’t believe how I ended up here in this situation when all I wanted to do was save my mother… but it seems like I only made things far more dangerous than they already are.
“We’ll have so much fun together.” He whispered as the chopper slowly silenced.
He carried me out refusing his men’s help and I plan a way to escape... that’s still possible right?
Everything is dark but a mansion near the coast caught my attention. It was grand but lonely on the inside.
No photos or signs of life inside, it almost feels like a cemetery due to its loneliness.
He took off the cloth on my lips as he put me down on the island counter. He removed the tie on my hand… his body close to mine making me breathless.
“If you’re thinking you can escape… think again.”
My lips parted. “What makes you think you can keep me here for long? My father will be looking for me. Sooner or later they will find out.”
He laughed. “Don’t get your hopes up. We both know that your father doesn’t care about you… you know that right?”
Why does it feel like he knows who I truly am? That can't be, right?
“You don’t know me well… don’t be so sure of what you see.”
He shrugged his shoulders as he took his tux off as well as his dress shirt that made me look away.
“Come with me.” He demanded walking towards the stairs. I refuse to follow him. “Don’t make me drag you.” His commanding voice made me shiver, and not having a choice but to obey.
I walked behind him, looking around. He took his men with him and I think the number of guards around tripled… making me lose hope of escaping.
The only thing that made me hope was Vivienne… she’ll do something right? Or was this her plan all along?
He stopped and opened a door revealing a grand bedroom, it has everything I needed… though what I need right now is to be with my frail mother.
“You’ll stay here in the meantime… until I figure out what to do with you.”
I couldn’t raise my head to look at him, scared that he will see how weak and helpless I truly am.
“It’s not like I have a choice.” I whispered as I enter the room, he followed me inside as I looked around and spotted a fancy dress on the bed.
“I own you now.”
His words sent shivers to my spine as his hands traveled around my shoulders to my waist.
“W-why me of all people?”
His lips nibble my ear. I could almost hear my heart beating, and my hands sweating profusely.
“You know the answer to that, Vivienne.” he held my arms, his grip tightening. “You stole from me… you’ll repay your debts.”
I wanted to defend myself… he got the wrong girl but realized that the only reason why I’m alive right now is because I am Vivienne.. I cannot be erased easily.
If he finds out who I really am… I will be disposed of without a thought.
His grip loosen up as he touched my face gently. “Rest tight… you’re going to need it.” I didn’t dare to speak as he slowly let me go. “we’re going to have so much fun… Vivienne.”
His face darkened as he faced me, and I just stood there watching him leave the room.
“shit.”
My legs weaken, not enough to support me, making me fall. I couldn’t breathe when he was near, it felt like he took my breath away. Tears stream down my face as I catch my breath.
Feeling trapped inside Vivienne’s sins and deception.
---
I didn’t realize I had fallen asleep last night, due to exhaustion I woke up sleeping on the floor, shivering.
But this ain’t new to me. I had a much worse experience. And thinking of my mother gave me strength that I could survive anything.
The door opened and revealed Damian with a serious expression. “What are you doing? You’re supposed to be getting ready. Breakfast at eight… be ready.”
Before I could utter another word he left, the door bang loudly making me jump.
While my body was still sore, I got ready. Wearing the dress on the closet… this house seems ready for my arrival… or should I say Vivienne’s arrival.
It took me a moment to compose myself. I didn’t know what to expect and how to act like Vivienne… I haven’t even gotten to know her since my arrival. Which was two weeks ago.
But I know how feisty she is.
As I walked down the stairs, I saw Damian sitting on the large and lonely dinning table all alone. His eyes followed me as I slowly approached.
“Took you well enough.” He looked pissed. “Sit. We’re eating together.”
I obeyed. “This is unlikely. The kidnapper is eating with his hostage.”
He didn’t speak and started eating.
Around the dining table were maids waiting on the corner as well as his guards… making me suffocated.
They weren’t watching but guarding. Is Damian so scared that I might escape? Or… is he someone who needs protection?
Though I doubt he will be needing them, just by his stance, I could see that he can fight.
“Stop staring and eat your breakfast.” I pouted.
He ate silently while I couldn’t bring myself to eat. I was starving but the thoughts of my mother alone and helpless made me worry.
She must be wondering where I’ve gone to… and I can’t trust anyone to take care of her… even Vivienne, who’s the reason why I’m here.
Now thinking of her made my blood boil. SHe’s my sister and she’s suppose to have my back. I know we didn’t grow up together and she hardly know me… but how could she scheme me?
“What are you thinking?” Damian rested his hands near mine, I immediately pull my hands away, making him glare.
“Thinking of ways to escape this hellhole.” I said with gritted teeth. “You can’t lock me here forever.”
“Why can’t I? Out of all people… you’re underestimating power?” He grinned.
“You’re overestimating yourself.” I’m sure he’s not.
“Try to escape then… if you can.” He stood up. “You didn’t even have a bite, I doubt you’ll have the energy to escape.” He chuckled. His hands on my shoulder were grabbing it slightly… then roughly making me moan in pain.
“Let go.” I grabbed his hands but I couldn’t overpower him.
His eyes caught mine, his eyes filled with un-explainable emotions while I froze in fear. Feeling the weight of his strength.
No one dared to look away. It’s like he’s testing how long I will last while I stare, eager to show that I’m not scared… except that I’m scared, I’m shivering on the inside, my palms sweating and my head heavy.
But a loud gunshot caught our attention.
I noticed how he stepped closer to me. His arms locked me closely while he nod at his men and before I knew it they started to leave but some stayed with us.
I’m not naive. I know something is wrong though I noticed that Damian isn’t worried at all.
This place feels darker and I could hear the gunshot getting louder and louder. I acted like it didn’t bother me at all though… I was visibly shaken.
“You’re ice cold.” Damian put his arms around mine and guided me to his study, and I was too distracted to fight with him.
I didn’t realize that I was staring at him… too much.
“W-what’s happening?” there's a lump on my throat.
My mind wandered around what might be happening outside… and what futures await for me if the shots reach us.
“Nothing to worry about.” He replied but eyes calculating as he stared. “Are you scared? I’m sure you’ve seen far, far worse than this.”
“Right.” What’s that supposed to mean?
Every minute in this place I slowly began to rethink what I know about my sister and the world she lives in… and what’s her relationship with this man.
I could easily tell that they didn’t have a great relationship but the way Damian handles me… he seems to care… about my sister.
“You’ve changed.” He stepped back. “But that doesn’t change the fact that you betrayed me. You join the forces with the enemy… and receive blood money for your own benefit.”
What? “I had to do it.” I answered, it’s the safest word to say.
“Really? We both know that in the world that we live in, betrayal means war.”
Who are these people? Who is Damian? And what is the world they live in?
“So be it.”
He laughed. “I wish I could kill you right now.” His voice lowed as he started to step closer.
Slowly, my heartbeat increased every step he took… but I was cornered to the wall. There was no escape.
“You would have done that if you intended to… but we both know that’s not your plan.” I hit a nerve when I saw his face soften. “Why keep me alive?”
He slam his palm to the wall behind me making me jump… an indication that I should be scared. He then played with my hair… tracing my face gently… but every move he makes I was shivering.
With elevated breathing I composed myself.
We were both silent but the gun shots louder catching his attention and men outside the study were calling his name making him step back.
“Boss! They’re onto us.”
“They’re so many of them.”
“The Diaz Clan is onto us!”
Diaz Clan? I heard that before… It's a mafia clan.
I look at Damian… Santiago. My mouth opened as I realized who really Damian is… and what kind of person he is.
He’s a mafia boss… and my sister is entangled with him. I can’t believe I miss this information. I should have known… or my sister could have told me.
I’m really in danger… and the threats of killing me… they’re really serious.
How do I get out of this mess?
