Stuck in lift

NEXT MORNING

THIRD PERSON POV

After completing the morning chores, Palak reaches with her team to the venue to work further.

OBEROI’S WEDDING VENUE:

Palak is instructing and helping her team to do best. They have done seventy percent of the work. After sometime, Ritwik comes to check the preparation. He is checking everything when his eyes fell on Palak.

She is wearing yellow kurti with reached her knees with denims and she has done high pony tail. Averted his gaze from her, he starts checking the arrangements by taking rounds of the venue. When he is roaming, Palak sees him and moves towards him.

“Good morning, Ritwik.” Hearing her voice he turns towards her and giving her a small smile, he said “Good morning Palak.”

“Do you like everything, if you want some change in the setting of arrangement, I’ll do that just cross check everything.”

“No need to change anything, everything is perfect.”

“OK Ritwik but if you find anything missing or incomplete than tell me.”

Looking at Palak, Ritwik finds that she is little stressed due to work.

“If you are free then we can have a cup of tea or coffee together.” Ritwik suggested.

“I really need tea right now. It works as a stress buster for me.”

Listening this Ritwik orders two cups of tea to the waiter. They both sits on the chair present there along with their drinks.

In meantime, bride’s brother comes there to check everything at last minute. He reach near Palak to ask her about remaining arrangements.

“Excuse me, Ms. Palak can I have talk with you?” Listening this Palak gets up putting her drink aside and said, “Yes sure.”

Saying this she excuses Ritwik and left with bride’s brother. Then they discussed about the arrangements and some other miscellaneous work related to wedding. After sometime he lefts. In meantime, Ritwik gets a call and he have to leave.

Palak comes near the place where she was sitting with Ritwik but not finding him there she thought that might be he had some important work so he have to leave. Leaving this thought aside, she joins back the work with her team.

After sometime while working she gets a call from PA Mohit,

Palak – Hello Mohit, what happened?

Mohit – Palak those invitation cards are ready, should I send them to the guest?

Palak – Yes send them to everyone but bring the invitation of Oberoi’s to me, I’ll give them personally.

Mohit – Okay, I will send them with your attire.

Palak – OK fine, I will talk to you later.

Mohit – Bye! Saying this they disconnected the call.

An hour later, a girl probably of Palak’s age comes and called Palak’s name to gain her attention. She is her colleague and she is here to give Palak's dress and invitation card. Palak thanked her then take a leave from her.

Putting her dress at a safe place. She lefts for Ritwik’s cabin, reaching there she knocks on door. Hearing a coming from him, she enters inside. Seeing her Ritwik asks, “Hey Palak I am sorry I got an important call that’s why I have to left, hope you don’t mind.”

“It’s okay Ritwik, I understand that. I’m not here to complain about it.”

“Okay but why are standing take a seat.”

Listening him she takes a seat. “Actually I’m here to give you invitation.”

“Inviting for what?”

“Our orphanage will going to held an educational fair and your company donates really a huge amount so you are listed on high donor list that’s why you are invited. So here take your invitation.” Saying this she handed him invitation card and seeing the card he gets know that this orphanage is run by Mehta’s.

“Are you running this orphanage?”

“No, it’s my dadi’s and mom’s orphanage. I just help them some times.”

“Okay, I will surely come there.”

“Fine, I’ll take your leave.”

“Bye!” she said and left from there cabin and left for her work.

AT 5:30 PM

Some close relatives of bride has arrived at venue. Everything is up to the mark.

Palak comes at venue wearing Peach floral kurta with little work on it matched with a floral cream skirt. Today she has leaved her hairs open.

After cross checking all the arrangements she moves to terrace to see from the top. She is taking stairs and when she is about to reachs on first floor, she misses a step in hurry and hurt her foot. She is walking in uncomfortable and unusual way and eventually Ritwik sees her in this condition. So, he moves towards her hurriedly, reaching there he asks, “What happened and why are walking like this?”

“I missed a step in hurry and now I’m having pain in my right leg.” She said talking a support of wall.

“If I’m not wrong, you must be going to terrace for top view of all arrangements?” Saying this he takes her hand and encircles it around his neck and hold her another hand.

“Ritwik it’s okay, I can manage you don’t worry.” She is getting butterflies in her stomach by the touch of Ritwik.

“Hear you can’t even walk properly and you want me not to worry, come I’ll take you to my cabin.”

“No, I want to see everything right now.”

“Stop being stubborn and come with me you need rest and I’ll also call the doctor.”

“Please, Ritwik you know I want to check it before approving it so please let me go and if you want you can accompany me.”

“OK fine but we will go by lift only or else you have to take rest in my cabin.”

Ritwik help her in walking putting all her weight in him and because of all this Palak is feeling something different. Everyone present there are giving them looks because if their position. Glaring at them Ritwik said in a stern voice, “Don’t you all have work to do, get back to your work.”

This is also seen by Ruhani, looking at Palak’s condition she comes towards them , “Bhai what happened to her anything serious?” Ruhani asks with a concern.

“Nothing much Ruhu, she just sprain her leg while stepping hurriedly . Can you call doctor in my cabin?” Listening this Palak said before Ruhani , “Ritwik no need of doctor I’m fine.”

“I’m not asking you, we are calling doctor and it’s final.” He said and turn towards Ruhani, “You call the doctor in my cabin and we’ll be there in sometime.”

They are about to leave when Ruhani asks them, “Where are you going Bhai, your cabin is that side?”

“I’ll tell you later, you just go and call the doctor.” Nodding positively she left to call doctor.

Ritwik along with Palak enters in lift till now Palak was zone out because of Ritwik’s caring words and behavior. But when suddenly the door of lift closes, she comes back to reality. It hits her that she is in lift. She starts breathing heavily. Ritwik notices that Palak is having problem while breathing. So he asks her,“ What happened why are breathing like this?” Before she can say anything lift stops with a jerk and because of it Ritwik’s hold on Palak gets loose and feeling uneasy Palak sits down in corner, sweat buds starts forming on her forehead, tears are rolling down from her cheeks, she is shivering and her breathing is abnormal. Seeing her condition, Ritwik sits besides her and starts rubbing her hand he tries to calm her down.

“Palak, what happened why suddenly this is happening to you?”

“i-i-ha-have-clau-claustrophobia.” She said stammering a bit.

“Shit.” He cursed under his breath. Then he calls his PA and tell him all the situation and order him to bring help as soon as possible.

Cutting the call he resumes rubbing Palak’s checks and hands saying sweet nothings to her. Seeing her condition getting worst , he hugs her and starts rubbing her back.

“Palak see I’m here only, they are going to open it in sometime so calm down.”

Feeling her uneven breathe he glance at her face and sees that she is fainted. Seeing her in this condition it pained his heart and he starts cursing himself for bringing her in lift without asking her and then he remembers that yesterday too she said no and she also wanted the windows to be opened. He is rubbing her hands and tapping her cheeks when lift door opens and his PA comes inside to help him. Ruhani is also there, so seeing Palak fainted in Ritwik’s arm, she run towards them and helps Ritwik to take Palak outside. He takes her in his arms and moves towards his cabin. Laying down her on couch , then he tell Ruhani to call the doctor but he is present already.
