Chapter 2

Gwen’s POV “Capture her!” That was the abrupt charge that escaped from my Alpha’s mouth as the guards marched over to my corner. The elders stared at him in confusion as the other pack members gasped in shock. “What is going on?” “What has this lame and useless wolf caused again?” These words came out of the pack members, staring at us anxiously. Suddenly, they could hear us. Didn't they hear the full explanation from the Shaman? “Alpha.” I faced him. “Why should they capture me? What have I done?” I questioned him as I couldn't be punished for no reason. “Are you asking me that, you brute? Everyone!” He faced the gathering. “This lady you see here is a witch, a sorceress who would in time cause havoc in our pack.” He sighed and gave me a dirty look before facing the gathering again. I continuously shook my head in disagreement. “Thankfully, the Shaman has spotted an evil scent around us, so we can get rid of her before it becomes too late.” He urged them with a convincing lie and they stared at me, looking irritated. “Witch?” “How come no good thing comes to her?” “No wonder she remains mateless till date.” The comments from them were filled with ridicule. “My Alpha, how am I a witch? The Shaman had just confirmed that I’m a Guardian….” I hadn't been able to complete my statement when a hard slap landed on my face. I gasped in shock and disbelief. “I believe you are already possessed by evil spirits! What are you waiting for? Drag her away!” He barked at the guards in anger, facing us with his back. “Please. I’m not a witch. I can never be a witch. Please. I’m being accused.” I cried out but no one would even look at me. They laughed and threw curses at me as the guards started dragging me out of the gathering. Immediately, I grabbed the edge of an elder’s clothing and he darted his sharp aggressive eyes at me but I didn't flinch. “Please, save me. You know the truth, tell everyone what the Shaman said.” I cried profusely, biting my lips. “You know I’m innocent, please help me.” I persuaded but rather than a word, he shoved my hands away from his clothing and the guards dragged me out. What did I do to gain something like this? Because I wasn't a Guardian in his pack, he was trying to mistreat, accuse and discard me? I wouldn't accept this bitter fate and die as a sinner. I must have my name cleared and change the way everyone sees me currently. I wasn't a witch. It wasn't possible. I wasn't dumb as I clearly heard what the Shaman announced. The prison I was thrown into was so dark that I couldn’t tell if it was morning or night and since I was in, I hadn't heard news from outside nor eaten. I ignored the hunger and eagerly hoped someone would come to my rescue, to listen to me and also tell me my fate. The ground I curled myself on became cold and I stood up, grabbing the bars. “Who’s here? Please, release me!” I shook the bars while screaming but my voice and the sound I made echoed. Had he thrown me to the dungeon? “I’m innocent for goodness sake! Why are you all treating me like this? Being an orphan alone is too much, what did I do to deserve this unfair treatment!” I broke out in tears, rolling back to the floor. I was broken and confused. He could have made a deal with me. Why was he greedy and wicked at the same time? My reveries were interrupted when I saw a small bowl approaching my side, I looked up and saw an old man, covered with long gray hair. “Arghhh!” I screamed, thinking he was a ghost until he laughed and took his seat. “It seems you don’t know the prison you are in.” The man smirked. “No one comes here and you won’t hear a word until your execution day.” He added slyly. “But, I’m innocent. I’m not like you and I will leave here.” I said confidently, inwardly encouraging myself but he burst into laughter. “No one leaves here alive and no one cares if you are innocent or not as long as the Alpha has labeled you.” He sighed and shook his head. “Eat and sleep. Wait for the day you will die.” After this, he crawled back to the darkness he was lying in. My eyes rolled down at the food he said I should eat. “This..?” I looked at the food and back at him. A dirty-looking porridge and rat-eaten bread? “Not me.” I shrugged and cuddled myself in a corner. Just like he said, I patiently waited for the day I would die. “Kill her! Get rid of her!” “She is trash, what are you waiting for?” “She needs to be dead. She deserves pain!” Kneeling under the morning due, in the pack gathering and inhaling curses from the pack members was the worst embarrassment that I had ever faced in my life. “Today is Gwen’s judgment day!” The Alpha’s snotty voice came up as everyone fell silent. I looked in his direction and somehow, we unintentionally locked our gaze. He knew what he was doing. He knew exactly what he was doing but I didn't understand why he was treating me like this when I was innocent. It wasn’t like I planned with the Moon Goddess for this gift and right now, I didn't know if it was a blessing or curse to me. I lowered my head to the ground with a deep sigh. “The elders feel pitiful for her since her life is worse than an Omega, and because we are good people, Gwen Pinter will be banished from this pack, never to step her fit or return to any of our mappings, else she would be killed on the spot.” He announced with a loud voice and my jaw dropped. “Banished?” I faced him almost immediately. “Alpha!!” I screamed his name pitifully. Where could I go? Where did I know? “ I grew up in this pack! Why are you chasing me away? Where should I go?” I questioned him with dissatisfaction and he stood up. “If you can’t bear it then go rogue and live as you want. We don't care.” His eyes burned in anger and jealousy, I could tell what those looks were. Then, he faced the gathering, holding a bright smile. “What a chameleon!” I groaned. “She has less than thirty minutes to leave this pack else anything that befalls her will be her fate, even if it’s death.” He spilled bluntly. “What?” My lips trembled. This was unfair and no one agitated. They were satisfied with everything he said like people who were under a spell.
