chapter six

Pretty soon the clock stuck 4:05 and I was ready to leave. I was ready to leave since about three but Mariana wasn't finished shopping. She still had to go to her millionth store. I saw Gracie and went the other way, thanking God that she didn't see me nor did her friends. I wouldn't mind Gracie seeing me, but I would mind her friends. I wasn't ready to face them. Then again, who can ever be ready to face the people who nearly killed you. I wasn't even ready to face my siblings, I was forced to. If I have a choice, then believe that I'm going to choose not to face them. I looked at Mariana who was texting as we sat in the food court. "Please tell me you're ready to leave." I nearly pleaded. "Girl yes. Let's go." "Finally." We got up and grabbed our bags then began our walk to the garage. "So, what're you going to do when you get home?" She asked while keeping her eyes glued to her phone. "Play 2K18, you?" "I don't know yet. Maybe watch Netflix or something." "Why don't you play your Xbox?" "I need to get a new charging deck." "What happened to the old one?" "Chewy chewed on the fucker." She said with a hint of anger in her voice. I laughed. Chewy was her Labrador Retriever, he was adorable and so playful but he loves to chew on everything; her shoes, her charging deck, etc. "Why didn't you buy a new one?" "I forgot about it and now I don't have enough to get one until I get another job." "No worries, I'll buy one for you." "Nah, I can't ask you for that." "I owe you much more than a charging station. You helped me with something that's unrepayable. I can at least do this for you." She sighed. "Okay, but I'll pay you back." "No need to. We'll swing by Wal-Mart and grab two just in case." We reached my car and I unlocked the doors. "Okay. Thanks, so much." "Ah no worries." We put the bags in the trunk and got in the car. I started the engine and backed out before putting my gear in drive and speeding out of the garage. I dropped Mariana off and was now pulling into my garage, seeing my brothers' car along with my sisters. I was going to back in but I was too tired to do so, so I just pulled in. I got out and grabbed my eight bags, and went to the garage door. I slid my key in but couldn't unlock it. Which resulted to me breaking my key off in the door. "Shit." I mumbled to myself. I double clicked the garage button and quickly ran out of the garage so I didn't get smashed by the door. I went around front and used my other key to carefully unlock the front door and walk in. "Grayson, Gracie, I'm here!" I called out for my siblings. I closed the door behind me and headed into the living room, stopping in my tracks when I saw Grayson and his best friend Ace with their girlfriends, and my bullies, Ciara and Tiara, who had their attention on me. Shit, and here I was thinking I wouldn't have to face anyone today. "Who's she?" Ciara asked. "That's my sister." Grayson said in a proud voice while looking at me with a smile. "That's not Gracie. I would know." Tiara said in "I-know-everything" voice. "Not Gracie-" Grayson began but was cut off by Ace. "That's Ella." Ace said while looking down at his phone. We all looked at him. "What? I can recognize her." He said while cutting off the screen and looking back at us. "Ella?" Ciara asked. "We don't know an Ella." Tiara said. "Don't you?" I asked. I put my bags down on the table that was by the door. "Remember that pathetic nerd that everyone bullied? That you two helped beat half to death, literally?" I said. Their eyes got wide while Ace slouched down in his chair. "There's no way that you are that ugly nerd. You're pretty and she was-" Ciara trailed off trying to find a word to describe me. "Ugly, pathetic, hideous, no-" Tiara began but was cut off by Ace. "That's enough Tiara." Ace said, stopping her from continuing. I looked at Ace in shock that he actually said something to stop the ice princess from speaking. "You look nice, Ella." He complimented me. "Oh um, thanks. It took me three months, so uh yeah. Anyways-" I began, stopping myself to turn to my brother. "I accidentally broke my key off in the garage door." I gave him a sheepish smile while holding my arms behind my back. He sighed. "Again?" I bit my lip, trying to hide a grin that was sneaking up on me. "Yeah, sorry about that." I shrugged. He groaned. "Alright, did you close the garage door?" I looked at him in confusion. "Yeah, why?" I asked. "Because now we can't get inside the garage!" He all but yelled. "Ohh, that's why I wasn't supposed to close it." I said in a now-understanding-voice. He deadpanned himself. "I'll go call the locksmith, again. You tell Gracie that she can't get into the garage." He said while grabbing his phone. "Okay." I grabbed my bags and headed upstairs. I opened my room door and sat my bags on my bed and took off my shoes, putting them into my closet where my other Nike's sat at. I pulled my hair into a bun as I walked down the hall to Gracie's closed door. I knocked twice and went in, sighing when I saw her, Kenzie and Ashley all on her bed doing their toes. "What's up?" She asked while looking up from her now red toes. "I broke my key off in the garage door again then I shut the garage door, again. So our cars are stuck in the garage. Grayson is calling the lock smith and uh yeah." I said with a sheepish smile. She shook her head. "You always break your key in a door, whether it's the garage, front or back. Every door in this house has had a key broken off in it because of you." She said with a playful roll of her eyes. I laughed and threw her stuff animal that was by her door at her, making her laugh. "Shut up." I said while laughing. Ashley and Kenzie were looking at me in confusion, so I just closed the door. Not wanting to explain or talk to them. I'm pretty sure Ciara and Tiara will tell them.
