Yesterday, I woke up late.
But today, I made sure that I got up on time. I refuse to get up late and barely have anytime to do anything.
I had already brushed my teeth, washed my face and took a shower. Now, I was in my closet looking for something to wear. I stopped at a new dress that I had bought the other day. It looked like a high waisted skirt and a top but it was a dress. The bottom was striped in black and white and the top was a solid black, it was too cute to me.
After slipping into my dress, I was now in the bathroom trying to decide on what to do with my hair. After like eight minutes on trying to decide, I decided on to put half up into a bun and curl what was left out. I left my face makeup free, just sliding on some nude lip gloss.
Before I met Mariana, I had no idea there were so many hairstyles. I also didn't know a thing about makeup or lipstick. She told me when I changed, she was determined to make me learn makeup and hairstyles, so I did. Mainly because I was forced to, but still.
After sliding on my sandals, grabbing my crossbody, bookbag, keys and phone, I was now heading downstairs with my stomach growling.
I heard talking in the kitchen but stopped once I heard my name. I listened to my brother and sister speak about me.
"I had a dream that Gracie actually did end up killing herself, Gracie." Grayson said.
It was silent before my sister replied.
"Really? How?" Gracie replied.
"Uh...she stabbed herself. I woke up crying. I don't cry." said Grayson.
That made my heart warm up just a bit because it let me know that my big brother still cares about me, that he still loved me.
"Yeah I know. I feel bad. Honestly, I don't know what we would do without her. She's like a miniature mother; always there for you, no matter what. She's really what kept us together, even through the bruises I gave her." Grace got choked up, letting me know that she was about to cry.
I decided to break the conversation by walking in and pretending that I didn't hear anything.
Gracie and Grayson still needed to earn my forgiveness. Just because I was speaking to them again, doesn't mean that they are forgiven. Especially Gracie, we're sisters and yet she nearly killed me.
I honestly just don't understand how anyone can do that to their sibling, especially their younger sister.
I threw a smile onto my face.
"Morning." I said.
They looked at me with a surprised look on their face.
"Uh morning, did you happen to hear anything?" Grayson said slowly.
I grabbed the waffles from the freezer, threw a pack onto the plate and put it into the microwave.
"No. Anything like what?" I replied, acting clueless.
I sat at the island and waited for the microwave along with a response from my brother.
"Uh, Gr-" Gracie cut him off.
"It's a surprise." Gracie all but shouted her fake answer.
"A surprise? For what?" I asked.
"We can't tell you what it is, then it wouldn't be a surprise." Grayson said.
I was curious as to why they didn't tell me what they were talking about but I shrugged it off as my waffles beeped in the microwave.
I got ready to get them out but Grayson did it for me, he took them out, put syrup on them and with butter while Gracie poured me some apple juice.
"Well, thanks. I feel like it's my birthday." I said with a smile
They laughed.
"It will be in two weeks." Gracie said with a grin while Grayson nodded with an apple in hand.
"Yeah, true. I'm excited." I shrugged while shoving a piece from my waffle into my mouth.
"We are too. What do you want for your birthday?" Grayson said while leaning by me on the island while Grace sat in the seat beside me.
"I don't know. I haven't thought much about it." I replied after drinking some of my juice.
"I'm going to get you a whole lot of stuff." Gracie said with a look in her eyes.
"Last year you threw a burger at my head in school while screaming HAPPY BIRTHDAY FATASS!" I watched as her face fell, making me inwardly smile a bit.
"I know, don't remind me."
Her voice was low, making my inward happy mood die down a bit.
"I'm sure this year will be different, though." I said in attempts to cheer her up.
And there goes her hazel-ish eyes lighting back up.
"Oh hell yeah it is." Gracie replied.
I cut on my screen to check the time; 7:48 am.
"Hey Gracie, don't you have that cheer meeting before school?" I asked while getting up to put my plate into the sink along with my glass.
"Yep, I'm leaving now." She replied while grabbing her bags.
We yelled a goodbye out to her and soon it was just Grayson and I.
"Any ideas what you're getting me?" I asked him while grabbing my bookbag.
"Yeah, but I'm not sharing."
"Awe, come on."
I opened the garage door and slowly headed towards my car which was parked at the far end since Gracie's was in the middle.
"Nope."
I opened my door and threw my bag into the passenger seat.
"Well fine. Be that way."
A chuckle was thrown my way.
"I will. See you at school, be safe. Okay?"
"Meanie but okay and you too."
As a response to me, he threw up the "okay" sign with his fingers before driving out of the garage.
Lunch Time
My first three classes flew by and it was time for the best part of the day; lunch.
I was the only one in the hallway since I was in my locker looking for my lunch, so when I heard laughter, I just automatically looked up. I saw Mariana with one of the other cheerleaders.
"Omg, I know right. She's just-" The dark-skinned girl was cut off by my best friend.
"Hold on. Okay?"
Mariana walked over to me with a tight smile.
"Hey Els, uh the cheerleaders moved their tryouts to tomorrow, so during lunch Aria agreed to go over my routine with me. I hope that's okay. I promise to sit with you tomorrow." Mariana said with a pity smile.
I hate being pitied. Nobody showed pity when I was getting bullied in front of everyone.
"Of course that's fine! I'll just sit with Kelly or something. Good luck!" I gave her a half smile that she didn't seem to notice.
"Awesome, you really are the best." Mariana said with a smile on her face.
She threw her arms around me, squishing me into a hug. She released and skipped up to Aria who was looking at me in disgust.
"About time you lost all of that weight, loser." Aria said.
I rolled my eyes, closing my locker.
"Hey, don't talk about her like that. She looks amazing, just as much as she did before." Mariana stuck up for me.
"No it's okay, she's right. It was about time I lost all my weight, now I'm skinnier than her."
I walked off before Mariana or Aria said anything else.
I didn't mean to snap like that, I was just annoyed. First, I didn't pack my lunch and I didn't bring any money with me to buy anything from the vending machine. Second, Mariana wasn't going to be at lunch with me and she was literally my only friend.
Yes, Kelly was sweet, but I don't think we're friends.
I don't know.
I passed the cafeteria and headed up to the roof.
The roof was a place I went to think and to escape my bullies when they haven't already seen me. I didn't know if anyone student knew about it, but as many times as I was up here these past two years, no one else was already here.
Until today.
