Chapter 8

1643 Words
My palms are sweaty, and my heart is still racing as a strange feeling washes over me. Blinking, I stare at the door, but nothing changes. Maybe the vision of a man in a costume is all in my mind, just an overactive bit of imagination transforming a normal boy into a beast with glowing green eyes. That makes more sense than the idea that anyone can move that fast or disappear so silently. Holding onto my clothes, I sway on my feet as I look around at the aftermath of my attack. It is still dark in the room, but the lack of light doesn’t seem to bother anyone. If anything, from what my clearing vision is showing me, they are moving around without effort. Which is why it hurt so much when the lights were flicked on without any warning. A few people growl in discomfort, and I don’t mean that figuratively; I mean actually growl as if I were stuck in a cage full of angry dogs instead of a basement full of people hiding from a storm. Standing by the light switch, her eyes alight with righteous anger, is Nessa, Zane’s girlfriend. Her bright red hair, pulled high on her head in a long ponytail, swishes over her shoulder as she targets me, and then Jake, with her laser-sharp gaze. Folding her arms across her chest, her lips curl into a nasty sneer. “What the f**k just happened here?” She barks. A few bystanders cringe as if she slapped them, as if her words alone have the power to hurt and bruise. “And why the f**k are you Seaglass mutts on our side of the line?” The curly brunette screwing my ex, helps Jake stand, his head slowly oozing blood as she leans him up against the wall. Turning, she rolls her eyes at Nessa, she looks over at me, “That f*****g w***e wouldn’t put out.” “Zelda,” Jake starts to say, but before he could finish, he grips his aching head. “f**k this hurts. Damn it.” The brunette, Zelda, leans into him, cooing as she smooths out his shirt. Kissing him gently, she presses her head into his chest as she continues to rage about what a lousy piece of trash I am as my ex pets her back like she’s some strange, exotic cat. “I can’t believe that asshole attacked him. I mean, I don’t know what the big deal is, she’s f****d him before. Jake always goes into a rut during a full moon. She should feel proud to serve him.” A few of the others in the room nod in approval, agreeing with her as if what she said was common sense. “Full moon tonight,” someone shrugs. “s**t like this just happens,” I think I heard someone say followed by something that sounded like “Alphas gonna be alphas…” in the same way that most people say “boys will be boys.” Are they serious? How could they all be okay with what just happened? Grabbing people and trying to f**k them in their sleep is not a normal thing to do, and yet here they are, nodding their heads like it’s just another Tuesday. The longer I’m trapped in this godforsaken place, the weirder everything seems. “He just tried to rape me, and you’re taking his side?” I snap back as my skin grows warm with anger. “What the f**k is wrong with you people?” My fists clench, and I turn my back on all of them, marching towards my box to search for clothing that isn’t ripped or dirty. This whole situation makes me feel cheap and used. Even though somebody stopped Jake from taking things all the way, he still violated my body, taking advantage of my drugged state to try and get what he wanted. A hand touches my shoulder as I dig an oversized sweater out from the bottom of the box. Jumping, I scream, turning more than a few heads as my hand goes to my chest and I struggle to catch my breath as I scan the room for any possible danger. Before Jake attacked me, I thought I was safe, surrounded by everyone. Now I’m not sure about anything anymore. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” Patrick’s kind voice apologizes as he hands me a cup of water and another wolfsbane tablet. “You should take this to help you sleep. You’re still healing.” “I don’t need it,” I grumble, looking at the door. “I don’t want to sleep.” If I sleep, he’ll get me again, I think, but do not say. I’m not sure I’ll be able to sleep again until I find a place of my own and lock myself in tight. Patrick’s face falls, his dejected smile turning his lips downward. “I see. Well, if you’re sure, I’ll just…give you some space.” “Thank you,” I struggle to smile. “I mean, it isn’t you, it’s just…I can’t…I mean…” “I get it,” Patrick raises his hand. “But you shouldn’t be alone, you should let me stay close, at least, and look over you.” “You can join us,” a soft voice calls to my left, and I turn to see a pretty young woman with a long thick braid of dark brown hair that drapes over her shoulder. She’s wearing a set of warm-looking sweats and holds out a hand in greeting, her teal eyes smiling. “My name is Dana, and over there,” she tilts her head towards a girl with short black curls, “That’s Corrina. You can sleep next to us. That way nobody will get any ideas.” She looks kind, and as my hand touches hers, I feel a sharp jolt of…I don’t know, something. Like I’ve known her before. It’s weird, but somehow I feel like I can trust her. I know I shouldn’t, but somehow I do. “Thank you, my name is Felicity.” Looking over my shoulder, I see Patrick wave as he mouths “it’s okay” as he turns and steps away from us. “Welcome Felicity,” she takes my arm in hers and guides me towards her friend. “Here, sleep between us. Girls like us are better off sleeping in packs.” Two other nearby girls nod as they grab their pillows and tuck themselves in near us. They introduce themselves as Sarah and Jane, each of them just as kind. Zelda looks over at me, raises an eyebrow, and then sashays back to my ex while the redhead orders everyone to rest. The way she says it sends a shiver up my spine that makes me want to choke her. “Oh don’t let those two bother you,” Corrina says in a voice that is as smooth as warm honey. “They both think they’ve been crowned Luna even though neither one bears a true mark.” A wolf howls in the distance and my hand flies up to cover my bandaged neck. Isn’t that what Patrick kept calling my bite. A mark? “They sure are a couple of big bitches, but they’re all bark and no bite,” Dana assures me as she helps me get settled in next to her. “Nothing for you to worry about. They know they don’t have any real claim to those two.” It takes me a moment to realize they are talking about Jake and Zane. But why are they mentioning them to me? “I don’t have a claim to them either,” I shake my head. “And I don’t want one.” “If you say so,” a feminine arm wraps around my waist as my body begins to feel heavy with sleep. “Maybe you should let those two know.” My body snaps awake. I must have fallen asleep. There’s an arm under my back, making my spine knot as I twist around it. Dana and her friends are curled up around me, turning our resting space into a nest of bodies, protecting me. “Oh YES!” a woman moans, bringing my attention towards a dark corner of the room. I can’t make out much, but two bodies are pounding into one another as a dark figure rides a pale beauty from behind, her ass raised in the air like an offering as he pulls her into him, jamming his thick rod into her opening again and again. The girl turns her head, her red hair falling to the side, covering half her face. Her eyes are closed, but when she opens them they are bright blue. Smiling as if she’s won some kind of prize, she moans harder, pushing back until their bodies smack as they bounce off of one another. His body is large, larger than I expect, and his hair, which grows from the top of his head, seems to grow down his neck and back. He seems more like a beast than a man, his shaft impossibly thick and wide as she takes all of him inside of her. He grunts as he pushes in deeper, his nails digging into her hips deep enough to leave marks as he forces her legs wider with his knees. For a moment, our gazes connect. Closing my eyes, I pretend I didn’t see his bright green eyes flashing in the dark. As I put my hands over my ears to shield myself from the sound of his name on her lips as she cums. “Zane,” she cries as he gives one final grunt. “Oh Goddess, YES!”
