Chapter 8

Whatever that was controlling me, needed to come forward. The vision, the beast, that horrifying beast, this was not the first time I had seen this. Infact, I used to have them every fortnight a year before Oglo's disappearance, approximately thirteen years ago if I'm doing the maths correctly. That was a really horrific time. I was constantly fighting to keep my position in the council, when what everybody wanted was to kick me out. "Are you alright? I heard what happened with Edward in the hallway." Malina came into the office and pulled me out of my thoughts. "I-" I cleared my throat because my voice was coming out squeakier than ever. "I am alright Malina, we just had a little disagreement and things escalated quickly" "Are you sure about that? Because it looked more serious than that. Besides you and Edward never get into arguments, so I'm a little surprised to hear that. And Oglo was also there, in fact she was the one who attacked you after you were on the brink of killing Edward" Malina looked at me with suspicion in her eyes and malice in her voice. Her hawk-like eyes almost closed with the way she was looking at me and her thin lips curling up as she spoke. I was surprised that she knew this much detail. I'm sure that I sensed no other in the hallway except our trip. "How do you know all this?" I didn't negate anything she said, and asked a question of my own. Pulling away from behind the desk, I stood next to her, towering her 5'2 height. Malina gulped as she looked at me and she knew then and there that she revealed too much information. People knew my business, I didn't like that. "What- what- this is all that I heard! You know that word travels faster in the castle, maybe a student saw you? Or a worker? I don't know Aurora!" Malina looked flustered, making this more fun for me. I moved forward to stand closer to her when I felt something jiggling in the pocket of my cloak. The globe, peasant demon, pit of hell. And it all came crashing down. Malina was the one that sent that demon. Who else could it be? She was powerful enough to summon them from a kingdom far away. There must be more than one of those demons then, one that was looking at everything that happened from behind the scenes and then rattled everything in detail to her. At least one of the mysteries was solved. "You are right Malina, word does go around faster here, maybe there was a student there? I don't know, I was too preoccupied to sense them I guess" I sighed and hugged Malina, putting all of my weight on her, pretending to be very tired. She stood there for a few seconds without hugging me, too surprised that I bought her lies. Of Course I didn't. I gritted my teeth, thinking about the betrayal that was happening right under my nose. But I wasn't going to reveal her true identity here. I needed to find the motive of her doing this to me first. I needed to find the reason for her betrayal. Malina embraced me after a while and we stood there for a few seconds before I detached myself from her and sat us down on one of the brown couches in the right corner of the office. I flicked my fingers and summoned some tea for us, which appeared after some seconds and sat itself down on the table in front of us. We had a lot to talk about.
