When I woke up, the bed was still warm, indicating that Ember had left not long ago. I grabbed his pillow which still contained his scent. I inhaled to calm myself. I sat up and walked to my duffle bag and got dressed in black jeans and a tank top. I walked to the living room where all the boys were sitting. I sat next to Ember and leaned against him.
“Well, now that everyone is awake, what's the plan?” Issac asked. I sat up a bit. “Well, I have an idea that I wanted everyone's opinions on.” I stated before taking a breath, “ Ember your alpha naming ceremony is this coming weekend is it not?” I asked, looking at my mate. He was only able to nod with a questioning look. “This entire pack loves you and I know you have their support. However, if we murder your father they will likely turn on you. So hear me out, we should expose him to killing and trying to kill the beta family.”
“That is extremely smart love.” Ember pulled me to his chest. “The whole pack loved your family and now we just have to get proof that he lined everything up to kill them an- What if I pretended to plot with him to kill you and Issac?” Ember almost yelled, cutting off his sentence. I looked at him and smiled, knowing this plan could work if we pulled it off.
“This idea is both dangerous but can work. With the alpha naming ceremony, the entire alpha council will be there. The question is, Ember, are you ready for your father to face the punishment of death for murder and attempted murder of at least two of the strongest members?” Rem stated. Em only gave a slight nod.
Ember then pulled me closer and kissed my head and then my cheek. “I have to get going if we want this plan to work.” I nodded and we stood up. Ember hugged me. “Remember next time you see I will be acting about trying to kill you. However, I do love you, my beautiful mate”.
With that, I watched my mate walk away. I watched the man I have loved for so many years walk into the woods knowing that the next time I saw him I would have to put up the performance of my lifetime. I left the boy's eyes on my back. “Sis, are you alright?” I shook my head. No, I wanted to cry but knew now wasn't the time. I looked my brother in the eyes. “Well, imagine if Rem told you the next time he saw him, it would be an act to kill you. I know this is for the best, but it just hurts. I don't get my happily ever after like every other wolf.”.
Rem walked up behind him with an angry face. “ Winter, oh my lord, you are so f*****g self-centered. You meet your wolf early and met your mate who happens to be your childhood best friend and all you wanna do is cry. Like, think about it for a minute. The only thing you have done is cry and complain, get over it. Not everything is about you. We are here risking our lives so you can be with your mate in your original pack, even after all the strings I had to pull so you could move, you are so ungrateful.” Rem practically yelled at me. Isaac looked shocked. I felt my blood start to boil. “I never asked you to come, I was going to come back alone. I don't know why this happened, but guess what? You can leave. I didn't ask you to come and I'm not asking you to stay. But I'm going to avenge my parents who were murdered.” I yelled back at Rem. He walked up to me and slapped me across the face. “ You don't get to talk about me. You're my mate's sister, and I don't care who you think you are, but I'm not here for you. I'm here for him. So watch your tone with me.”
I gasped and ran out the front door. I shifted, ruining my clothes. I began to run as far as I could from that house. I need to find somewhere to stay for just a few days. I can't be near him. Since I and Ember aren't completely mated, we can't mind linking. I sighed as I stopped at a pond to have a few drinks. I sat down. “Snow, what's going on? Am I a problem?” I looked at the snow and the reflection of the pond. “No Dear, I think he's just nervous for his mate. It will be alright. How about we go hunting and then we can relax before heading back for the night.” I smiled to myself, that sounds nice.
Just as I stood up, I heard someone behind me. I looked behind me to see Alpha Eric, “ so the rumors are true, you both got your wolves early. However, that is typical for alpha and beta. Now, Winter, why are you back in my pack? I guess you found out I killed your parents. And I don't want you near my son, you have no right to be Luna. I'm going to make this easy for both of us. I'll give you thirty seconds. You had better start running because when I catch you. I'm going to kill you.” Eric said. I gulped and just looked at him. “One… Two… three…” I took off running. Well, I guess that plan is not going to work.
I ran towards the packhouse and tried to mind-link, Isaac. He blocked my commutation. I'm alone. My own brother doesn't care about me. I pushed myself to run faster. I knew some of the alpha conceals had started to arrive and if I could just make it to the meeting hall it would be fine, right? I felt him on my tail and tried to run faster as I saw the pack house coming into view. “Winter we aren't going to make it, we need to fight,” Snow said. “No, we can make it, we are so close.” with that I felt him bite my tail. I let out a loud whine that seemed to alert some gardeners.
I felt his teeth digging into it and knew I couldn't run anymore. I let out a howl to try and alert Ember. I then turned around and snapped at him. Eric's mind linked me, “Say goodbye”. I gulped again and felt him ripping at my tail. I cried out again, “ Winter. we have to shift back”. With that, I could feel the discomfort of my bones breaking. Eric stood over my naked body, his wolf bearing its teeth at me.
“Alpha Eric, what do you think you are doing?” I let out a breath as he was forced to shift back and Ember rushed to my side, wrapping a blanket around me. Everything started spinning. Then I blacked out.
