The Reason

Chapter Ten

I thought Issac would be the driver but I was wrong. One of his friends, Rem, was driving. I guess it makes sense both of us weren’t in the right mindset. I looked out the window as we passed through a human town. We were only an hour into our trip. Rem and Issac were talking so I zoned them out, watching the building so by.

“Hey, are you hungry?” I zone back in as my stomach growled. “ I would say yes”. I let out a laugh. Rem pulled into a small diner. We all got out of the car and walked inside. It smelled like cinnamon. We sat in a booth and a waitress came over to take our order. She put her hand on Issac's shoulder, then Rem lightly growled at her. She moved away.

“What can I get for everyone? She said in somewhat of a snotty attitude. I looked at the menu and let the boys order first. We all ended up with some sort of burger with potatoes. Rem got a cheeseburger with a baked potato, Issac got a plain burger with fries, and I ordered a cheeseburger with extra cheese and tots. She walked away to put the order in.

“What are y’all?”, I looked at the boys. They look at each other and Issac lets out a sigh. “ let I didn't come back sooner was that I found my mate,” he grabbed Rem's hand. I smiled at them. “That is awesome bro, I'm so proud of you.”

She brings our food and while eating I take time to talk to Snow.

“Snow are you there saying I wanna ask more questions,” I said in my mind. “Yes, I'm here child, how long until we are in the new pack?” she sounded anxious. “ We should be there in 11 hours. How am I supposed to hide you for a year, especially if I find my mate?” I asked her as I ate. “You can do it, plus if our mate hasn't gotten their wolf yet I won't be able to detect them,” she perks up a bit. “ we need to get moving,” she said worryingly.

I looked at the boys, “ I think we should get going”, I said, as I finished up my food. They both looked at me, still having a small amount. “Sis, let us finish too,” Issac laughed. “No, we need to go now.” Snow said in my head. “Can we please just go now?” I said, looking around. Rem sighs. “She is right, we do need to get going. Alpha is expecting us back.” Rem was by my side, we paid, packed up the rest of the food, and left.

Finally, halfway there, I feel Snow's anxiousness. “ Snow, won't they be able to tell one I shift, won't my sent change?” She paces more. “We will come up with an excuse little one but we need to shift soon. Before sunset we have to shift, we have to pull over and shift. The sun sets in seven hours”. I nod and look at how long before we are home the timer says five hours. I lay in the back seat and tried to fall asleep.

When I woke up again, I woke up a large packed house in front of the car. I looked at Issac as he started talking, “we have a room ready for you and you'll be taking an online class so you can finish school.” I nodded and got out of the car stretching. Issac shows me to my room and then goes to meet Rem.

“We need to be outside to shift, we need to go now.” I stood up and texted Issac. I'm going out for a run. Text me if you need me. I send the text and leave the packhouse to look for a clearing. With snow giving me directions, I ran to a clearing. I undress so my clothes don't get ripped. I lay on the field and relaxed. I feel my bones start to break and shift. I scream as fur starts to appear all over my body. In less than ten minutes, I was completely different.

“We are now one child.” snow hums in my head. We went for a short run to a lake where I saw her pure white fur. The same wolf I saw with the moon goddess. I smile to myself as we have a few drinks. We then ran back to my clothing, we shifted back and I got dressed by looking at my phone. Issac messaged me about 10 minutes ago, asking me back. I have been gone for about two hours. I ran back to the packhouse where Issac is waiting for me.

“Sis there you are.” I look at him, “ yeah sorry I was distracted.” he looks at me. “You smell different were you out with someone?” “uh no, it is just a new perfume.” I lie through my teeth. He nods and we head inside towards the alpha's office so I can meet him for the first time.
