I woke up sometime after noon. It was hard to stay asleep, all I wanted to do was cry. I stood up and stretched as I walked towards my door. I need to eat and get some water. I opened my door and pulled myself down the stairs, making my way to the kitchen where I saw the head chef.
“Good morning, Miss Winter, would you like something to eat?” He said, wiping his hands. I nodded slightly, “ I forgot my wallet upstairs, I can go grab it though,” I said, patting my pockets. He looked at me. “ sweetie, don't worry about it, your covered today”. I looked at him tearing up “ thank you”. I went and sat down in the corner, putting my head on my legs.
I heard my phone go off, so I grabbed it and looked at the message slightly, hoping it was Ember. However, it was my brother. I read the message “ hey sis. I'll be there in 12 hours. I'm leaving my pack now. I love you to stay strong”, I smiled. I knew he loved me more than anything to leave during those times.
I heard footsteps making me look up from my corner and I saw Ember walking in. I held my breath. I know he wasn’t looking for me. He was probably still mad. The chef called my name to get my food. I saw ember perk up. I stood up and walked over to get the tray. I planned to go back to my room. Starting to walk to the stairs, I felt an ember grab my arm. I turned around.
“Yes?” I said in a raspy voice. “Winter, I heard what happened and I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for everything. I know I shouldn't have yelled at you” he said sincerely. I put the tray down and hugged him, starting to cry. “Ember they're gone, I saw their lifeless bodies” I cried out, hugging him. “ I know”. He picked me up. I buried my face in his shoulder. “ Someone please bring food to the winter's room,” he said as he carried me. I went to the room.
When we reached the room, he sat me down and opened the door. I walked in and over to my couch. Em walked over and sat next to me and just grabbed my hand. I calmed down from crying. “ I leave in 14 hours. Father thinks it's best with the attacks,” he said, rubbing my hand. “ I really would like you to go with me but I know that father would never allow it” I looked at him. “Ember, my brother is on his way when he leaves. I think I might leave with him,” I said, lying on him. “ I just can't do it, you leave, my parents are gone. I just need a fresh start.” Ember looked at me slightly sad, “ I understand, just promise when I come back you will too, I still need my beta”. We let out a laugh as someone knocked on the door.
“Come in,” Em said, and some omegas walked in with food and drinks. I thanked them as they left. I talked to Ember a few more hours before he left to go pack. Before I knew it, twelve hours had passed and my brother was almost here. He called me back after an hour to tell me he was stopping to get some food and rest. I stood at the doors of the parking house as a black SUV sat out front with Ember loading his items inside.
Suddenly, a Red Suv pulled up. I knew it wasn't one of ours, which meant only one thing. I ran up to the car as my brother got out. He picked me up and spun me around. “SIS!” “ISSAC”. I nearly started crying but I had no more tears left. “ I’m so happy your here bro” he sat me down as alpha eric stepped out.
“Ah Issac, long time no see, are you here to take the beta position in place of your late parents?” he said with little to no concern. “No, I'm here to provide my baby sister with comfort. Also, she will return to my pack with me.” I looked at him, he had already made the decision and I hadn't even asked him.
“Your parent's funeral will be held tonight,” Eric said before he walked to Ember and hugged him goodbye. I let go of Issac's hand and ran up to Ember and hugged him. “ Ember, I love you so much, make sure to contact me please.” He hugged him back and we let go of our hug. “ I love you too, winter, and don't worry. I'm not losing contact with you,” he said and got into the SUV as it pulled out of the driveway. I felt a sense of calm.
I turned around to Issac and smiled. “I think I should go pack so we can leave in the morning. Your old room is still clean and waiting for you. He nodded and we headed inside to get ready to say a final goodbye to our parents.
