On the way back home, Lucas drove Maria to Annie's condo, as she had told him a small white lie about where she was staying. Although Lucas tried to persuade his lover to stay the night with him, Maria firmly refused because she knew she wouldn't get any rest, as usual. She also felt exhausted from everything that had happened recently. She didn't know what was going on lately, why she felt tired easily and often sleepy, and why her mood seemed unusually erratic.
