Chapter 11: Searching
At Maria's desk, after she parted ways with Annie, who had just returned to work in the afternoon, Maria picked up a heavy bag of medicine from the table. She reached in to grab the box of medicine but still didn't dare to take it out when she saw other employees walking past her desk. She hesitated, unsure of whether to take it out in front of them, but quickly decided against it, not wanting to attract any attention. In the end, she could only wait until no one was around to take out the medicine, but just then, her manager called her. Maria quickly put the medicine bag back into her desk drawer before going to meet her manager.
