The classroom buzzed quietly, but Kayden couldn’t focus on the lesson. He leaned toward Sam and Luca, lowering his voice.
“You know… I still can’t get over last semester,” Kayden began, a small, amused smirk on his face. “That end-of-year party… Aria kissed me. And then—over the holidays—she totally ghosted me. Can you believe that?”
Sam grinned, leaning closer. “Man! She kissed you? That was an opportunity of a lifetime. How on earth did you let that happen?”
Kayden shrugged, shaking his head, still amused. “I didn’t let it happen. She just… disappeared. Like she owned the world and forgot about me.”
Luca narrowed his eyes. “Careful, man. That girl’s dangerous. She knows exactly what she’s doing. She’s going to play you if you let her.”
Sam laughed. “Dangerous? Pfft. I’d say irresistible. You got kissed by the queen of Elite Academy herself. Consider yourself lucky… even if she ghosted you.”
Kayden smirked again, leaning back in his chair. “Lucky? Maybe. But somehow… I can’t stop thinking about her. And I know she knows exactly what she’s doing.”
Luca shook his head. “Just don’t get too carried away. She’s back now, and everyone’s watching. Don’t give her the satisfaction of seeing you fall head over heels again.”
Kayden’s eyes flicked toward the classroom entrance, imagining Aria’s confident stride, her perfect hair, and that all-knowing smile. He knew he was in trouble—but he also knew he couldn’t help himself.
The lunch bell rang, and the cafeteria came alive. Elite students carried trays of gourmet meals, laughter and chatter filling the air. Aria, Lila, and Sienna entered like royalty, heads held high, moving through the room with effortless confidence. Students instinctively parted for them, some sneaking glances, others quickly snapping photos.
Kayden, Sam, and Luca spotted them from across the room. Kayden took a deep breath, pushing past his nerves. “Let’s do this,” he muttered to his friends.
The trio approached Aria’s table, the tension palpable. Aria looked up, tilting her head slightly, an amused smile playing on her lips. Lila and Sienna followed her lead, curious eyes studying the boys who dared approach the queen.
“Kayden,” Aria greeted, voice light, almost teasing. “What brings you to my table? Can’t handle your lunch without saying hi?”
Kayden smiled, trying to keep his tone casual. “We just… wanted to talk. About last semester.”
Aria raised an eyebrow, interest flickering. “Oh? And what exactly do you want to talk about?”
Aria chuckled softly, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “That was fun… wasn’t it?” Her eyes met Kayden’s, full of mischief. “I thought we had an agreement over the holidays—you disappear, I disappear. Seems you didn’t follow the rules.”
The two powerhouses locked eyes, each measuring the other. Kayden’s smirk mirrored hers.
“Aria,” he greeted smoothly, voice low, confident, a challenge hidden beneath the words. “I didn’t expect you to make such a grand entrance this early.”
Aria arched an eyebrow, tilting her head. “Kayden. I could say the same. And yet, here you are, trying not to look like you’re already under my spell.”
Sam chuckled. “Man, you two are something else. Last semester was wild. Kayden, you got kissed and then ghosted. Still smarting?”
Kayden shrugged, amusement flickering in his eyes. “Maybe a little. But I didn’t stay gone either. Funny how things work out, isn’t it?”
Luca raised an eyebrow. “Careful, Kayden. She’s dangerous. She plays to win, even against someone like you.”
Aria leaned forward slightly, smirk teasingly sharp. “Oh, Kayden… don’t act so confident. You think your money or your arrogance scares me?”
Kayden’s grin widened, matching hers. “Not scare. Entertain. This is going to be fun.”
Lila and Sienna giggled, admiring their queen, but even they noticed the tension between the two rich, arrogant students. The cafeteria seemed to shrink around them, everyone sensing the clash of titans—two powerful, privileged, and fiercely competitive personalities, each unwilling to give an inch.
Aria leaned back, calm but magnetic. “I hope you can keep up, Kayden. Last time, you fell right into my game. Let’s see if today’s different.”
Kayden’s eyes sparkled with challenge. “I don’t fall so easily… anymore. But don’t worry, Aria. I always play to win.”
Kayden, Sam, and Luca exchanged a last look with Aria before turning and walking away, their smirks hiding the mix of frustration and amusement swirling inside. The crowd’s attention subtly shifted back to the girls, leaving Aria’s squad in their space of dominance.
Lila leaned closer to Aria, lowering her voice just enough so only her friends could hear. “So… about last semester,” she began, arching an eyebrow. “Kayden got kissed, and then—poof! Ghosted over the holidays. You’re really going to play with him again?”
Sienna giggled softly, leaning in. “I told you, Aria. He’s already under your spell. Look at him walk away like he’s in control—he’s not.”
Aria smirked, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Oh, I know. That’s exactly why it’s fun. He thinks he’s confident, thinks he’s untouchable… but he’s just like the rest.”
Lila shook her head, amused. “You’re impossible. But I guess that’s why you’re the queen.”
Aria’s smile widened, eyes sparkling with mischief. “Exactly. And let’s just see how long it takes him to realize that again. Kayden, Luca, Sam… all of them. It’s only a matter of time before they’re back where they belong.”
Sienna clapped her hands softly. “Then let the games begin.”

Lila leaned closer to Aria and Sienna, lowering her voice with a mischievous grin. “Guys… have you heard?”
Sienna tilted her head, curiosity piqued. “Heard what?”
Lila smirked, pulling out her phone. “Vivienne Hart just dropped a new gist. There’s a new student coming in—around 19, I hear. And he’s… well, let’s just say, ridiculously hot.”
Sienna’s eyes widened. “Hot? How hot?”
Lila tapped her phone, scrolling through a few pictures. “See for yourselves.” She handed the phone to Sienna first, then to Aria.
Aria’s eyes scanned the photos, taking in the broad shoulders, defined muscles, and the confident aura that radiated from the new guy. A bright grin spread across her face.
Sienna nudged Aria, smirking. “New target?”
Aria tilted her head, letting a playful smile linger. “Maybe… let’s see.”
Lila giggled. “I mean, he’s exactly the kind of challenge you’d like. Muscular, arrogant, probably thinks he can’t be tamed.”
Aria leaned back slightly, savoring the moment, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. “Oh, I love a good challenge. This is going to be fun.”
Sienna laughed softly. “Then it’s official. Thiago… welcome to Elite Academy.”

The dimly lit warehouse smelled of gasoline and metal. Stacks of crates lined the walls, some filled with cash, others with unmarked weapons. Thiago stood in the center, hands tucked into his pockets, eyes cold and calculating, black jacket sharp, shoulders broad, posture casual—but every inch of him screamed danger. Around him, Marco’s inner circle moved with precision—Rico, quick and ruthless; Diego, tall and intimidating; Luciano, sharp-eyed and always alert.
Marco, seated in a black leather chair at the far end, leaned back, his expression unreadable. “Thiago,” he began, voice low but commanding, “the authorities are sniffing around us harder than ever. Money laundering, shipping… you know the drill. We need a cover.”
Thiago’s jaw clenched, muscles tensing. “I get it. What do you want me to do?”
Marco smirked. “You act like a student. Elite Academy, private school life. Rich kid. Arrogant. Let people think it’s just a spoiled brat playing at life. But underneath… you stay ready. You fight, you train, you handle business.”
Rico stepped forward, flipping a knife casually in his hand. “And the others? Do we all go undercover?”
“Exactly,” Marco said, rising. “Everyone has a role. Clean appearances, clean stories. The cops are watching our money flow, so we act like we’re normal. But when needed, we strike.”
Diego cracked a grin. “Normal is boring. I like this plan.”
Luciano adjusted his jacket, eyes on Thiago. “You’ve been trained for this your whole life. Fighting, guns… you know the drill. But this cover, this school… it’s going to be a different kind of challenge.”
Thiago nodded slowly, letting the weight of it sink in. His past—father dead, mother gone, Marco taking him in—had shaped him. This cover job wasn’t just strategy; it was survival.
Marco clapped his hands once. “Alright. Training continues as usual. Guns, fights, strategy. But remember… school life is your mask. Keep your arrogance, your image… but never slip. One mistake, and the investigation digs deeper.”
Thiago’s eyes narrowed. “Understood. I’ll play the part. But don’t think for a second that I’m soft because of it.”
Rico smirked. “Yeah, we all know better than to doubt you.”
The gang dispersed, blending shadows and light as they moved, some heading to weapons practice, others to stacks of cash to count and plan. Thiago stayed behind for a moment, staring at the city skyline through the broken warehouse window. Elite Academy, luxury, status… his new world. But the streets, the power, he’s past lives, the danger—those would always follow him.
