Caelum's POV
I burst into the private room where wren was kept. The room was busy with a lot of doctors and nurses working on her, then my ears caught the worst thing in my life, the sound of her flat lining.
I felt the blood drain from my face, and I could feel the mate bond stretch taut and snap. Blood was roaring in my ears and for a while the world stood still.
Hands held my shoulders, snapping me out of the trance I was in. I heard someone screaming in pain and I realized that the sound was coming from me. I felt like I was floating, detached from my body.
I gasped in breath, feeling like air was not enough. I felt like a black hole sucking all the chaos going on around me. Hands continued to shake me but I hardly felt it.
