CHAPTER 8

CATHERINE :
We were on the jet for nearly an hour now and I dozed off to sleep as I'm really tired. The next thing I know I woke up in a soft bed. I shot out of the bed and looked around. I'm in a room which looked like a freaking thing which came out of a Cinderella movie. The walls were a nice cream color and every other thing is in blue. I looked around me searching for Edward and heard the shower running. I got out of the bed and went into the balcony to see where we are. The view outside took my breath away. As far as I can see there is water. I think we are on an island. The waves crashed into the shore and I saw the sun rising above the sea. It's really a beautiful sight to watch a sunrise over the sea. I stood mesmerized by the colors and felt all the stress leave me. I stared at the ocean which looks so peaceful and the blue waters which hardly had any waves. I turned around when I felt Edward wrapping his arms around my waist. I knew it was Edward even without turning around because he kinda had this scent which is so Edward that surrounds me when ever he was around. He smiled down at me and kissed my forehead. I smiled back and blushed because of the kiss. We never kissed like this before. Sure we are attracted to each other but we never did anything regarding that attraction. We acted normal around each other and just hugged when we are sleeping. The first time we kissed each other willingly is at our marriage ceremony. There is something different about the way he is looking at me right now. He never looked at me like that. There is something different about his gaze today. We stood like that in each other's arms watching the sunrise. This is probably the most romantic thing I ever did in my life. After standing in the balcony for nearly an hour I turned around so that I'm now facing him.
"Where are we? This looks like an island?"
"Well it is an island off the coast of France. Mom bought this place for me as a birthday gift a few years back. I normally come here whenever I have to get away from everything. Also I can do whatever I want without the whole country watching me."
"It's really beautiful."
"Yes it is."
He said staring at me.
"Are you trying your cheesy pickup lines again?"
"Why do I have to try? You are already my wife."
He stated arrogantly. I just gave him a look that conveys my thoughts 'did you just say that?' Seeing my look his eyes widened and he backed away from me.
"Cat, sweetheart, I'm not lying. You really look beautiful."
"Hmm..."
He sadly looked at me and I smiled at him.
"I'm not really serious. I'm just having fun."
Saying this I started laughing. He stared at my eyes and lips for so long as I'm laughing and moved closer to me and kissed me. He moved back to catch his breath that's when I took my chance and ran into the bathroom. I locked the door and took deep breaths. He sure knows how to kiss. After I got my breath under control I turned on the shower and got under the spray. What the hell is happening? Did he just kiss me?Oh my god!
I took my my time showering so that I don't have to face him yet and thinking about him. I stepped out of the shower, wrapped a towel around myself and peeked through the bathroom to see if he is still in the room or not. He is not in the room. Thank god. I don't know how I'm going to face him now. I stepped out and looked around. I guess he went to another room or to the kitchen. I opened the bags that were near the bed. God, I'm going to kill Emily. There were no clothes in that bag only lots and lots of lingerie and some short dresses. I cursed her under my breath and swore to myself that I will kill her the next time I see her. I found another bag and opened it to find my clothes. I found a note inside the bag.
'I know Emily would have packed things you will not wear so I'm packing some of your things in this bag.' And it was signed by Ari. Now I'm really happy that I got Ari as a sister and a friend. She clearly saw Emily pack my bags and did this for me. I'm going to thank her once we get back. I wore some jeans and a top and paired it with a jacket. I stepped out of the room and into the hallway. I walked along the hallway and found myself in a huge lounge and the kitchen is connected to it. I saw Edward in the kitchen with a cup of coffee. I looked around the lounge to stall talking to him. I don't know what I will say to him after that kiss. The place is really beautiful. All the walls are made of glass and I can see the sea from three of those glass walls. I think the house is on the edge of a cliff because I can see the sea beneath my feet as I walked to one of the walls. I felt Edward's eyes on me but didn't acknowledge him. When I spent enough time looking at the sea I gathered my courage and walked into the kitchen. He forwarded a cup to me and I found coffee in it. I drank the coffee along with him in silence. Finally I couldn't take the silence any longer.
"I'm sorry for running away earlier. But I'm not ready to do anything with you yet. We barely know each other and we are still just friends even though we married."
"I understand, Cat. We will not do anything you are not comfortable with. Let's get to know each other first."
"Thank you for understanding."
I smiled at him and hugged him. He smiled back and hugged me tight.
"I'm going to take you out to the market near the village today after breakfast."
"There's a village here? I thought we are the only one here."
"Yes, there is a village near by and we have all kinds of fun activities to do there."
"Ok. Let's go."
He laughed at my enthusiasm.
"Not now. After breakfast."
Saying this he placed toast in front of me. After we had our breakfast we went to the village by walk as it is really not far. As soon as I stepped out the smell of salt water hit me. I love beaches. But I never got the chance to enjoy in one after mom died as dad never took me to a beach after her death. After a while I observed that no one is around. I mean it's a beach and people are supposed to be there.
"Edward?"
"Yes."
"Why is the beach empty? I mean people are supposed to be there in beaches."
"This is a private beach. The public one is on the other side of the village. Due to security reasons this part of the beach is cutoff from the rest."
We walked along the path from the house and reached a little village. There are some stores scattered along the road but I didn't want to shop now. So we walked in the village and some of the locals greeted Edward. He spoke with them and introduced me as his wife to them. The women commented on how beautiful I looked and some old ladies pinched my cheeks. I blushed and looked down. After having lunch in the village we are back at the house when the sun is going down. Dinner is already in the kitchen by the time I changed into my pajamas and entered the kitchen. We ate silently talking about the day we spent in the village and after finishing dinner we went to sleep.
The next day Edward took me to another part of the island where we did scuba diving with the help of an instructor. We saw all kinds of underwater plants and some beautiful fishes. After returning that evening we went walking along the shore.
The next day Edward got two surfboards from the house and took me to the beach. He is a really great surfer and he tried to teach me how to surf. But you can't teach some one to surf on water when they can't even walk properly on land without getting hurt. After trying for a while and falling in the sea every time Edward finally stopped laughing and helped me to the shore. I enjoyed the day at the shore while Edward went surfing.
The next day we enjoyed on our private beach by spending the time in the sun. For our efforts we got a nice tan. We built a big sand castle and played like children in the water. We walked along the shore and collected sea shells.
We spent the next day inside and watched movies and by eating junk food. We talked about our lives and our plans for the future. It's surprisingly easy to talk to him. I never expected him to listen to what I'm saying so attentively. He doesn't come off as someone who cares for what others are saying or what they want. But it's to be expected, you really can't be a good prince by not listening to the people and their wishes. He talked about his life as a prince and how it was while growing up. And all of his plans for the country and how he wants to change things in the country. I admired him as he talked about his plans. I'm starting to develop feelings for him and those are not feelings you should feel for your friend.
The next day we went to the village for some shopping and I bought everything that got my interest. I bought things for my best friends and then for my in-laws and Ari. We spent the whole day shopping.
Edward wanted me to take rest the next day as we will be quite busy once we get back home. Home, I never thought I would call Edward's home as my home. I never really felt like I'm at home anywhere after my mother died. But now Edward's home feels like home. I can't wait to get back. I'm looking forward to starting my college classes online as I can't really go to regular college because of security reasons and also because of my duties as a princess. I'm really happy that I can complete college. Another thing I didn't know about Edward was that he finished college early at 19. I never knew that he is so smart and intelligent.
After a whole day of not doing anything and taking rest, we packed our things the next day and boarded the jet to go back home.
