CHAPTER 19

CATHERINE :
I woke up feeling drowsy and looked around. I am in a hospital room. Then everything came back to me. I lost my baby. My baby girl. I started crying. Edward is by my side in a second. I didn't see him when I woke up.
"Are you alright, Cat? Are you in pain? "
I shook my head.
"Then what is it?"
"Our baby. Our baby girl, Edward."
He had a pained look on his face. His eyes are red showing that he too cried. He sat beside me and held me tight. I cried for a while and he just held me to him.
" Who did this? Who is responsible for our baby girl's death?"
"Dad and Zach are trying to find that. Don't worry, whoever did this will pay for their crime."
"I don't want to stay here. Please take me home."
"Ok."
Edward makes some calls and by that afternoon I'm in our room at home. I just laid in the bed staring at the ceiling thinking of our baby girl. I had so many plans for her. I can't even see her anymore. Ari came running into the room and hugged me tight. She looked at Edward after hugging me.
"Edward, Dad wants to see you now."
"I will be right back, sweetheart."
He kissed my forehead and left the room.
"Don't worry. I will stay with her till you are back."
Ari told me what happened here after I fell down and when I was in the hospital. I dozed off listening to her talk as I'm feeling tired.
EDWARD :
I didn't leave her side until Ari assured me that she will look after Cat. Zach met me at the door of my father's study. I entered in and he followed close behind.
"Did you find out who did that? Who pushed her down the stairs and killed our baby?"
"We are trying, Edward. But whoever did that is really good at covering their tracks. They stood in places that are not covered in the CCTV cameras."
I grabbed a random thing from the table and threw it at the wall. It crashed loudly.
"Find them, god dammit. I don't know what you will do but find them, Zach. "
"I will find them, Edward."
"Just search the library again for clues."
"We already did that 10 times but didn't find anything."
He left and I threw everything in the room at the walls. Who ever did this to her is going to pay. Whoever hurt my Cat and my baby will definitely pay. I will make sure of it.
CATHERINE :
It's been a week and I'm able to walk properly now. But I still didn't talk with anyone except Edward. Edward still would not let me go anywhere alone and Zach always accompanies me. Finally I gathered the courage to go to the library. Zach followed me there like he always does. I am searching for books to finish my course work and to take my mind off things when I remembered something. It felt like a flash as I am searching for books. I quickly called Zach.
"What is it, Cathy?"
"I remember something from that day."
He waited for me to continue talking.
"The day I fell, when someone pushed me I remember smelling something before they pushed me. It's a smell found in gardens not libraries. I think it's the smell of roses."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure."
"Ok, just grab your books. I will drop you at your room and leave."
I grabbed my books and followed him to my room. He left after I'm safely inside my room and there is guard outside the door.
EDWARD :
I am in my study going over some papers when Zach burst through the door. I thought that something is wrong with Cat and made a dash to the door but he stopped me.
"I found something."
"What?"
"Kate smelled roses before someone pushed her down the stairs. We were in the library earlier and she remembered it."
"What?"
"And I know who it is."
This time I ran towards him and waited for him to say something.
"It's Jasmine. Don't you remember? I can smell her rose perfume a mile away. And you used to say she wears too much perfume to impress you but you couldn't stand the smell of it."
I got angry. How dare she do that? How can she even think of hurting my Cat and my baby? I'm going to kill her.
"Find her and bring her to my father."
Zach left calling for some guards. I ran to our room and found Cat on our bed reading a book. I hugged her close to my chest. I never want to let her go.
JASMINE :
I'm devising a great plan to get rid of that lowlife when some one knocked on my door. I opened it and saw Zach, Edward's best friend and chief of security standing there. I smiled at him and he came in along with some guards. He looked angry.
"Jasmine, you are being arrested for trying to kill our princess, Catherine and for the death of our unborn prince or princess."
Before I can say anything the guards grabbed my hands and led me to the King's chamber. How the hell did they find me? They were not supposed to find me. I did everything to cover my tracks. We entered the room and the King, my Edward and some guards were standing there. Everyone is looking disgustingly at me, even my Edward. Why can't he understand that I'm the right one for him and I love him?
"Jasmine, I already contacted your father. You were being sent to your country now and you are going to spend time in jail after going there."
The king informed me.
"Why? What did I do?"
"Because you tried to kill Catherine and killed my grandchild."
"I didn't do it."
"We know that it's you. Catherine smelled rose perfume when she was pushed down and everyone knew that you are the only one who uses that perfume here."
I didn't say anything. I am shocked. That little witch! Why can't everyone see that I love Edward?
"Take her away."
The King ordered and two guards came and dragged me from the court room. I started begging and screaming for Edward.
"Edward, why can't you see it? I'm the right one for you not that lowlife. I'm fit to be the Queen. She is a nobody. "
But they didn't listen to me. They took me to the prison and locked me there till they can send me home.
CATHERINE :
Edward ran into our room while I'm in the balcony. He hugged me and lifted me off the ground. I screamed at him.
"What happened?"
"We found who pushed you down the stairs."
I stood there frozen.
"Who is it?"
I inquired calmly.
"It's Jasmine. She is in prison right now. Some people from her country were coming to take her away."
"Why? Why did she do it? What did she get by killing my child?"
"She is totally obsessed with me. She just couldn't live with the fact that I married you and didn't choose her."
A week passed after that incident. Jasmine is gone now and everything is alright. I met Jasmine before she left and slapped her and hit her for killing my baby. I wanted to kill her for what she did. But dad stopped me saying that I am better than that and better than her. I'm still not alright. It will take a while for me to come to terms with everything that happened. But I'm getting there one day at a time.I finally got to spend some time with Edward.
"So, now that everything is over what happens now?"
"We start over, kitten."
"How?"
"By taking it one day at a time."
"Can we go out?"
"Yes. Let's go."
We walked towards the garage holding hands and got into his car. He started the car and we went out on a long drive.
