Mr Anthony Stones was sitting inside a cozy coffee shop for the rich and mighty men of San Diego. He was with a close ally, Mr Jackson.
“Mr. Anthony, I have always admired your success. How did you make your fortune”? Mr Jackson inquired, incidentally, he was a journalist that was working on a project for his organization about the rise of Mr. Anthony Stones
“Well, Jackson , it has been quite a journey. Let me take you back to my younger days. I was not born into wealth; I had to work for it”.
“Really? How did you start? Jackson actually cut him short. He did not know that aspect of him, he was seen by many as someone who was born with a silver spoon.
“It all began with sports. I was passionate about basketball, and I had some talent. But I quickly realized that success in sports is not ust about individual skill; it is about teamwork and collaboration”.
“That is interesting. So, how did you turn your passion for basketball into wealth?
“I joined a local team and dedicated myself to improving not just my own skills, but also fostering teamwork among my teammates. We trained hard together, supported each other, and strategize to win games.”
“And did you succeed as a basketballer ”?
“Yes, I did. Our team started winning tournaments, gaining attention from sponsors and scouts. But I had my breakthrough when I started scouting for soccer players. That was when opportunities began to open up”.
“What did you do with those opportunities?
“I realized the importance of networking and building relationships. I connected with mentors and other scouts in the sports industry who guided me on the business side of things. I was able to sell some players abroad. Europe was a big turning point. Apart from selling players, I was able to secure endorsement deals for my players , sponsorship contracts, and even started my own sports agency. All these I was able to achieve because of the strong network I built over the years”.
“That is impressive. But how did you transit from sports into other areas of interest”?
“Sports , especially soccer , taught me valuable lessons about discipline, teamwork, and leadership. I used those skills to diversify my investments into different industries. Real estate, technology, and even philanthropy became my new playing fields”.
“So, it is all about leveraging your skills and collaborating with others?
“Precisely . Success hardly comes from solo efforts. Surrounding yourself with people who complement your strengths, and together, you can achieve greatness”.
Mr Anthony tersely put his modus operandi for success in a few words.
“Thank you, Mr. Anthony. I have learned a lot from your story”.
“My pleasure, Jackson . Remember, it is not just about reaching the top; it is about how you bring others along with you. That is the true measure of success”. Mr Anthony Stones rounded off.
EUNICE STARTED PREPARATION FOR HER SILVER JUBILEE BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION BUT GOT A SHOCKER.
Eunice was sitting inside her bedroom, writing on a piece of paper and Emelda was sitting close to her watching her as she was writing. After writing, she then handed over the paper to Emelda.
“Emelda please take a close look at this list. Please check carefully, if I have not missed anything out ”
Emelda looked through.
“Everything is intact, this is exactly how we planned it with mom ”. Handing over the paper back to Eunice.
“Are you quite sure “? Eunice inquired.
“Sure, you did not miss anything” Emelda said, nodding her head affirmatively.
“Great, so you are going to hand it over to mom “.
“That is no problem,” Emelda assured.
Eunice handed the paper back to Emelda.
Emelda walked out from Eunice's bedroom and walked to the sitting room and met their mother who was already dressed up resplendently for going out.
“I am rushing somewhere. I will see you later, Emelda ”.
“I am sorry mom please, kindly quickly go through this list before going out” Emelda's plea was pity. Evoking.
“What is it about ”? She asked, not because she wanted to read it, but wanted to further press Emelda into making her see the reason why she must leave the house at that moment, but she eventually collected the paper.
“Please mom read it, you will understand it better ” The look on Emelda’s face was enough to raise her curiosity.
She read through it, and suddenly her face changed, obviously annoyed.
“Whose birthday list is this ”? She inquired, not really for Emelda to answer her, but she was about to burst the bubble on her only biological daughter for the first time since she was born.
“Mom, of course you know it is Eunice's birthday coming up next week, it is her silver jubilee ” . Emelda was almost jumping up in excitement.
“Arrant nonsense, Eunice should go and look for funds to finance her birthday celebration, not from me ” She angrily tore the paper into shreds.
Emelda looked bewildered.
“But mom, you always finance her birthday, it is always a huge party, and you know she needs your support as usual , what is the problem this time around ”? Emelda did not need anyone to tell her that it was how their mom intended to hit Eunice below the belt.
“Emelda, you are asking me that question. I think you should go and ask your sister, she thinks her arrogance will take her anywhere ” She fumed.
“Mom, I hope it is not because of Stanley you are doing this?. Because he is not worth it, he doesn't deserve a lady like my sister Eunice. I have told you about him before now ” Emelda affirmed.
“That is what you think, but for me until Eunice comes to her senses and knows that I cannot deceive her, she cannot and will not get any help from me, by the way, who told you that Stanley is not willing to change ”? Mrs Anthony was livid.
