I woke to to my blaring alarm playing Good F_cking Morning, reaching blindly to turn it off. Echo being her helpful pomsky self is pouncing on my phone, at least she managed to turn my alarm off. Opening one eye I notice it is on the other side of the bed, no wonder I couldn't find it. Scarlett now awake and full of way to much energy starts her morning ritual of trying to suffocate me well Lynks yells at me from the dresser because why not? after sending off the dog I roll onto my belly and slowly wiggle out of bed already feeling like its going to be a long day. Only after letting Scarlett out and her playing in the snow for 10 minutes do I finally get my first cup of caffeine yummieness, coffee is the only way peopling is going to happen, ever. Going through the morning is second nature, make sure the cat feeder is full, dogs bowl is full, water bowl is full, more coffee, pack my bag for school, make sure I have all my winter gear and more coffee.
Walking out the door and getting that first bite of cold air steals my breath for a moment. It snowed through the night and a fresh layer of snow is blanketing thez world, making it look like the inside of a snow globe. The walk to the bus stop is quite this early in the morning, most people are just starting to wake up for the day, never mind already out and on the go. Suddenly I feel extremely dizzy and I swear the air feels warmer then the -23 it did moments ago and suddenly nothing but darkness.
I wake groggy swearing I hear voices, I must have passed out, I think to myself. As my head clears and the voices become clearer, I relize I'm warm and not in my jacket anymore.
"Sir, this female from what we understand is overweight and not in prime condition" I hear one voice say. Another deeper one responds "it does not matter, this is the prey the Maintoids asked us to find for the royal coming of age hunt". I think to myself I might not be skinny but I am fine being a BBW you assholes, turning my head slowly since I might be warm and laying on a hard surface, but I'm still dizzy. Standing outside the shimmering wall, a wall that looks to be in a square around me is two beings that I swear are at least 7 feet tall and looks like a jelly fish and have their backs to me? if Jelly fish could stand upright and where 7 feet tall.
I slowly sit up and say "Hey jelly fish people, I can hear you and I am not prey thank you very much". Both turn to me so fast if they had spines I swear they would have broken them. "You human should not be awake, the sedative should have kept you asleep until we reached the sacred hunt planet" the jelly fish on the right said. "Sir, her vitals are stable, slightly higher stress hormones but nothing out of the normal, I do not understand why the female is so calm" the one on the left said. I take a moment to look around outside the shimmering box I am in. Its a fairly scarce space with great walls and what looks like a door on the far side. Looking back at my captors I ask, so let's just drop me back off and we can forget this happened mkay?
"No, you are too be prey to the esteemed Maintoids royal hatchlings, you should see this as an honor for a prey species such as yourself." I am not prey you dickwads and I refuse to be hunted as such. "You have no say, you and your kind are prey. You will have 48 earth hours as a head start and then the 3 day hunt will start" the one I assume is in command says. You have hunted humans before, how many of my people have you sickos taken? "my kind the Oids have never hunted humans or any species, others find humans.... Enjoyable". If I survive this hunt I get to go home I ask, thinking about my son who is thankfully at his dads this week, of the animals at home, thankful I filled all the dishes before leaving that morning. "None have ever survived the hunt" Turning to the other one he says "sedative". I was so right about today being a long day, I think to myself, barely finishing the thought before world go dark.
