This Fish Is Not Fat

Initially, the little yellow fish thought that it would take the man several weeks or even longer to recover. It watched all morning as people came and went, busy replacing the furniture, cleaning the floors, and repairing the damaged areas of the house. While feeling grateful for its owner's miraculous survival, it also worried about whether it would starve to death in half a bowl of water due to the lack of attention. To its surprise, by evening, Wen Xuan returned home with a bag of medicine. (^o^)/~ Behind him was that familiar figure in a white coat. (#‵′)* Wait, isn’t this guy a veterinarian? Come on! As soon as the white-coated man entered, he casually changed into slippers and comfortably sat on the sofa, rummaging through the medicine that Wen Xuan had casually placed on the table. He leisurely said, “The food at the hospital is terrible. It’s fine to treat at home; after all, it’s just superficial injuries. A few days of medication will have you back to normal, without leaving a trace.” “Don’t worry about it. I just don’t have the extra time to spend at the hospital,” Wen Xuan replied calmly as he placed a brand-new fish tank back in its original position. He carefully arranged the items inside the tank—gravel, aquatic plants, corals, and after replacing it with clean water, he gently placed the little yellow fish inside. In the tank, the only fish left was this little mixed breed. Wen Xuan watched as the little fish circled its new territory, seemingly curious, peeking around and swimming about, unable to help but slightly curl the corners of his lips. What an interesting little thing. The little yellow fish carefully inspected its new home, confirming there were no dangerous items before flicking its tail and observing the two humans through the clear glass of the fish tank. The white-coated man was busy sorting the medicines into piles, while the man entered the bathroom to change into a loose, casual robe. Soon, a familiar and enticing aroma wafted from the kitchen. Following the smell, the white-coated man stood up, his nose twitching like a dog’s. The little yellow fish disdainfully turned its head, focusing on the man who was setting the table. The tips of his hair still held some moisture, and the slightly open front of his robe revealed a chest wrapped in white bandages. The dining table was filled with several dishes that were fragrant and visually appealing. Among them was a small portion set aside, less than a mouthful, but it looked exquisite and incredibly appetizing! The little yellow fish had been hungry all day, and it was almost drooling. However, considering its living environment, which could easily mix with its saliva, it silently held back, only unconsciously flicking its little tail. Even after getting injured, Wen Xuan hadn’t forgotten to return from the hospital and cook for it. Qaq, how touching! Who else could be such a good owner? “Wow, you even made a separate portion for it?” the white-coated man said with an exaggerated tone, “You’re really spoiling it! What about my share?” Wen Xuan smiled faintly and pointed to a dish resembling curry beef rice, with a rich golden color and some green or red vegetable garnishes. The plate was half-filled with chunks of tender, flavorful meat, the aroma easily wafting into the air. “Not bad, very generous!” The white-coated man nodded in satisfaction, but after glancing at the small, exquisite portion and then at the seemingly expectant little yellow fish, his eyebrows began to rise. “Actually, this fish should eat some fish feed as its staple. After all, it’s not very scientific to eat the same food as us all the time.” “Hello, science. Goodbye, science.” The unscientific little fish was silently raging inside, splashing water with its tail. It just knew that this petty white-coated man had ulterior motives! “… It doesn’t like to eat those.” Wen Xuan disapproved as he watched his friend tear open a bag of high-quality fish feed. Although that stuff was expensive, the little fish indeed didn’t like it. “Balanced nutrition, reasonable diet. You can’t spoil it too much,” the white-coated man said, ripping open a small corner of the tightly sealed bag, preparing to scoop some out with a small spoon. “Later, I’ll mix in the food you prepared and see if it will eat it all.” Wen Xuan thought for a moment. If the little fish didn’t eat it, they could just scoop it out and change the water. “Be careful not to mix it with your own food.” After saying that, he turned and walked The little yellow fish couldn't help but squint its eyes slightly. The man in the white coat continued to dig deeper, "Have you been feeding it too much? It's getting rounder! By the way, does it have a name? How about calling it 'Fat Ball'?" "Fat Ball..." At this point, the little yellow fish's eyes were completely narrowed. This was intolerable! Slap, slap, slap! With a flurry of its tail, it executed the ancient skill of the yellow fish: flying feed without splashing water! ╮(╯▽╰)╭ With precision, the little fish slapped the fish feed one by one into the dish of the white-coated man, not a single drop of water splashing out of the tank. The colorful feed balls sank into the golden sauce, thoroughly soaked, covering up the wet marks from where they had been flung out of the water. The white-coated man gaped at the little fish performing its antics. Before he could react, Wen Xuan came out of the kitchen carrying a steaming dish, and upon seeing the ruined plate of food on the table, he couldn't help but frown slightly, "Didn't I say to be careful?" The white-coated man quickly retorted, "It wasn't me!" He had to deny it! He was adamant! Wen Xuan was somewhat amused, "Then who was it?" The white-coated man immediately pointed toward the fish tank, "That little creature in there is the culprit!" Wen Xuan followed his friend's finger and looked at the new fish tank. The little yellow fish was blissfully flipping over, its belly exposed, floating gracefully in the water. With a hint of confusion, he tilted his head slightly and stated a fact, "It's sleeping." The white-coated man was speechless: "Oh, come on! At over twenty years old, being outsmarted by a fish..."
