Chloe’s Point of View
My wolf whimpers inside of me, the sound low, heartbroken. The sound cuts through me, and the tears that I have been holding back start to spill down my cheeks.
“It didn't work.”
I whisper brokenly, my voice cracking as I clutch at his shirt.
“I don’t feel it. Not like I should. I’m sorry. I am so, so sorry. The Moon Goddess... She must be angry with me, because I was so stupid, because I broke our bond without thinking.”
A sob tears out of me and I shake my head.
“I ruined us.”
The ache in my chest splinters as I cover my face with my free hand. The guilt crashes over me in waves. Guilt for rejecting him, for breaking something sacred, for failing both of us, but Zayde doesn’t let me fold into myself.
