Luca’s face goes slack as I watch him mentally trying to think of what to say.
The truth would be nice.
He’s been off ever since we came across that witch.
And now I know why.
Apparently, she’s the ‘one that got away’.
The ‘love of his life’.
His ‘destined mate’.
Or is she?
If I had found my ‘mate’ I wouldn’t be hiding it, even if she was a witch…not that I would want to find a mate and be tied down to just one lady.
But still…why the secrecy?
Why are they hiding her true identity?
And why would he hide it from me? I’m his Beta and his best friend, damn it. He should tell me everything.
