Rose’s POV
The car ride isn’t a comfortable one.
Luca is silent, his forehead creased with concentration as he winds around narrow back roads with tall, thick trees lining the sides.
Johnny is equally as silent, glancing surreptitiously back at me every few minutes.
It’s a tense atmosphere and I don’t dare question Luca about what’s happening in front of Johnny…even though Luca had said that he would fill me in, all he said was that there had been an attack and hostages were taken.
Then there was that phone call from his brother, Trevor, which Johnny could obviously hear with his Lycan hearing, but not me.
Luca slows the SUV and swings off the road between two trees onto an uneven, dirt road.
The vehicle bounces roughly as he speeds up and I grip onto the handle above the window.
