Chapter Three Tuesday, October 28, 2014 Last night Sarah was at my place. There’s a really strange gap in my memory. I think what happened was she was in a dream I had after she left. It’s strange because the time before seeing her last night, I told her I wanted her to stay the night with me sometime. “I don’t know when I’ll be able to do that,” she replied. “Maybe in the winter,” I said. And all of a sudden she is in my dreams and it was as if she did stay with me. The last time I slept beside a woman was when I was with Nina in Montreal, twelve years ago. I didn’t ask to sleep with women back then. I just did it and didn’t think about it. Maybe somewhere in the lengthy stretch of time between moving on and meeting Sarah, there was a decision to make lying down to sleep beside a woman
