My head was banging as I slowly woke up. I moved my arms to rub my aching temples, but something tugged against my wrist, restraining them to a cold, hard, object. My eyes flew open, and I took in the unfamiliar surroundings. I was in a square room with a small door, and no windows, with the only piece of furniture being the rough bed I was chained to. I heard voices outside the door, so I quickly shut my eyes as the locks unclicked. ‘She is still unconscious.’ An unfamiliar voice said. ‘Just how much Acolyte did you inject her with?’ Another unfamiliar voice asked. Acolyte, what’s that? ‘Enough to knock her out, but not for this long.’ The first person said again. ‘You better hope she’s not dead, or Alpha would have your head on a stake. We had clear directions not to kill her.
