Chapter 8 — No Control Left

634 Words
Adrian didn’t sleep. Not because he couldn’t. But because every time he closed his eyes— He saw Luca. The way he looked at him. The way he stood too close. The way he said it— Obsession. Adrian sat in the dark, the city lights bleeding through the glass walls of his penthouse. Control. He needed control. But for the first time in years— He didn’t have it. “Damn it.” The next morning— Everything felt different. The office. The air. The silence. Adrian walked in like nothing had changed. Like everything was exactly where it should be. It wasn’t. Because Luca was already there. Standing by the window. Back turned. Still. Waiting. Adrian stopped. Just for a second. Then continued walking. “You’re early.” Luca didn’t turn immediately. “So are you.” A pause. Neither of them moved closer. Neither of them left. The tension from yesterday— Still there. Still alive. “You left,” Adrian said. Luca let out a quiet breath. “You told me to stay like I belonged to you.” Adrian’s jaw tightened. “You signed the contract.” Luca turned now. “And you’re hiding behind it.” Their eyes met. That spark— Still there. Stronger now. “I don’t hide,” Adrian said. “No,” Luca replied softly. “You control.” Silence. Then— Luca stepped closer. Not hesitant. Not unsure. Deliberate. Adrian didn’t move. Didn’t stop him. “Say it,” Luca said. Adrian’s gaze darkened. “Say what?” Luca stopped right in front of him. “That this isn’t about work anymore.” The words landed. Heavy. Final. Adrian didn’t answer. Because he couldn’t lie. And the truth— Was worse. “You don’t get to decide that,” Adrian said instead. Luca’s lips curved faintly. “I think I already did.” And then— He reached out. Grabbing Adrian’s tie. The same way Adrian had controlled him before. But this time— It wasn’t about power. It was something else. Something dangerous. “Careful,” Adrian said. But his voice— Was already breaking. Luca stepped closer. “Or what?” he whispered. Adrian’s hand moved— Gripping Luca’s wrist. But this time— There was no force. No warning. Just heat. Just tension. Just something neither of them could ignore anymore. “You don’t stop, do you?” Adrian said quietly. Luca shook his head. “No.” That was it. The last line. The last second of control. Adrian pulled him in. And this time— He didn’t stop. The kiss was sudden. Hard. Uncontrolled. All the tension from the past days— Exploded at once. Luca froze for half a second— Then responded. Just as intense. Just as reckless. Hands gripping. Breath uneven. Control completely gone. It wasn’t soft. It wasn’t careful. It was everything they’d been holding back. And it was dangerous. Adrian pushed him slightly— Back against the desk. Not to hurt. Not to dominate. But because he needed something solid— Something real— To hold onto. Luca’s fingers tightened in his shirt. Pulling him closer. Neither of them thinking. Neither of them stopping. Until— Reality hit. Adrian pulled back suddenly. Both of them breathing hard. Too close. Still too close. Silence filled the room. Loud. Heavy. “What did you just do?” Adrian asked. But it wasn’t anger. It was something else. Something deeper. Luca looked at him. No regret. No hesitation. “You already know,” he said. Adrian stepped back. Running a hand through his hair. “This changes everything.” Luca held his gaze. “It already did.” Another silence. This one— More dangerous. Because now— There was no pretending. No distance. No control.
