Aunt Florence left without another word. When the door closed shut behind her, Grace and I stared at each other with blank eyes and tear stained faces. I recognized the numb feeling in her. She seemed to silently say ‘I’m tired, the fight has gone out of me, and I feel there isn’t hope left for any of us.’ But my mind had already begun to formulate a plan of action.
