Mimi scuffled out into the hallway to greet us. My heart almost stopped in my chest. She looked at me suspiciously as soon as she saw me in the hallway. “Mama, this is the man who gave me the flower today!” Mimi ran back into her room to grab her daisy. Kelly looked at me with curious eyes. I could sense J0 make the connection between Mimi’s flower and the flowers that I had brought home earlier.
