"Did you guys have fun shopping?"
All 3 nodded at me.
"Katie? How did you go? Did Sage help you find some things?"
Katie beamed at me. "Yes! Thank you Alpha! I got 2 new dresses! A black one for the ceremony and a pretty pink one for special occasions!" She opened her shopping bag to show me.
"Ooh! That is a pretty colour, and every lady needs a little black dress. I can't wait to see it! I know I'm going to be busy on Thursday, but you must come and find me to show me!"
Katie nodded smiling.
"Thank you for helping me today Sage." Katie said smiling at them.
"You're welcome Katie. I was happy to help." Sage replied.
My stomach rumbled loudly.
"I guess it's time for dinner!"
We all got up, said our goodbyes and went our own way.
The dining room had gotten a lot busier since we'd sat down.
Sage grabbed their dinner, and took off to their room. No doubt their antisocial self needed some alone time to unwind and sort through all that has happened.
We grabbed some food and headed to our dining table.
"Well, that was an interesting development!"
Ben nodded.
"What's happened?" Asked Stella and she sat down at the table followed closely by Mike and Verona.
"Sage found their mate while shopping in town today!" I said happily.
"My sister!" Ben added with a broad grin. "I don't know how Mum and Dad are going to take it. I'm glad though. Caliapie has been saying for years she doesn't want kids. My parents kept telling her she would change her mind, but I don't think she ever will. She's never been one to interact with pups, so I'm not surprised that she matched with a mate that feels the same way. I think it's a good thing. I know her ex Darren wants pups, so this has freed him up to find his mate, that potentially does want kids, same as him."
"Once Darren finds his mate, he'll forget all about Caliapie." MeiLee said. Then her eyes narrowed at Ben and she smiled mischievously "So, I guess the responsibility of giving your parents grandpups falls on you huh?"
"Better get onto that Beta." Mike said with a cheeky grin.
"Yes! You should sort that out so baby Gus Gus has a Beta the same age!" I added my 2 bobs into the conversation.
"Mike? He's going to need a Gamma as well. Chop chop people!" I said clapping my hands at them.
"Ohmygosh! Bossy Alpha mode much? I haven't even moved all my stuff in yet, and she's already planning my future birth schedule?" Verona sassed trying to look offended.
"Imagine how much more bossy you're going to be when you're preggers Verona!" Stella retorted with her eyebrows raised high. "Mike is never going to get his balls back!"
Instead of quipping in reply, Mike looked at Verona with the biggest sh*t eating grin ever! She giggled up at him and gently kissed his lips.
They are so adorable.
MeiLee looked at me with serious expression.
"Do you think you'll get a second chance mate? I know they are rare ... but you are so young." She bit at her lip probably nervous thinking she may have overstepped.
"I don't know." I answered quietly. "I guess it's up to the Goddess to decide." I gave myself a shake. "I'm not expecting it, but if it happens there's not much I can do about it." I shrugged.
Some Were's go their whole lives without finding their one true mate. Who am I, that I'd deserved a second one?
I'd always believed mates were a blessing, that they complimented your true self. But, I had no delusions that mates were always perfect. Our human side complicated things, or found offense when none was intended.
I believe I could be happy with an Omega, or a run of the mill warrior, but would they be happy with me? What would they think of being mated to an Alpha she wolf? Would they feel unworthy and resort to pettiness or jealousy? What if they felt inadequate and allowed themselves to sink into depression? What if they didn't think I wasn't good enough for them because of my mixed blood or Elvin heritage? What if they had envisioned the typical submissive dainty subdued Luna, and was dissapointed with a 5"11 broad shouldered fighter with big hips, arse, and a mouth to match? If they can't bench press my weight, or try to make me feel less than they deserve, they can shove their narrow minded ideals up their judgemental arse!
No, I won't be counting on a second chance mate. I will endeavour to find my own happily ever after.
"You could find your second chance mate at the Alpha meeting coming up next month. All the Alphas and Betas are invited to attend."
"Maybe." I replied noncommittalay.
Meh. Too much going on this week to think about boys ... and all the territorial BS that goes with them.
So many things to do this week!
I'm hoping that Friday's fairy fun day is still happening... but it depends on how smashed they get on Thursday, and if they are able to travel back on the Friday.
I'd be happy for them to call to say they needed to reschedule! In fact, if any or all my staff members needed Friday off, I'd be proud they got that messed up, everyone needed the next day off to recover!
My bad? Absolutely! * Maniacal laugh *
Ooh!
I feel the need to do some gardening before bed!
I told Stella where I was going after putting my plate back in the kitchen.
She insisted on accompanying me out.
We made out way almost silently to the middle greenhouse. Stella stood a few metres back from the entry door waiting for me.
I entered and walked through the spray area. Next through the laboratory part of the greenhouse with loud whirring exhaust fans, then through the mud room to my greenhouse full of luscious green plants as far as the eye can see.
I felt an infinity with my plants.
I kicked off my shoes. Closed my eyes and filled my lungs and sang an unworded tune to my plants gifted to my care by the Earth maker. I felt the ground beneath my feet, and concentrated. I called to the soil using my voice, and absorbed the moisture and nutrients from kilometres around, pulling them up from the dirt. I felt the rush through my body cleansing and purifying the compounds extracted, and channelled them out through my fingertips to release it to my plants in a steady mist that they thrived on. The mist extended to the full 3 greenhouses simultaneously as I willed it. The nutrients would be absorbed by the plants, and whatever wasn't needed would return into the ground keeping it healthy and rich.
I didn't know when I needed to do it, I just knew to act on the whim when it happened.
I've been obsessed with plants since I was a baby apparently. So Mum always used to tell me.
Now, I grew them for pleasure, and cultivated the wolfsbane for my oils, it also doubled as my back border defence. My warriors only needed to patrol 3 sides, which freed up their time considerably. The greenhouses took care of the 4th side. Our pack lands bordered on a steep rocky gully. Hence why it was the perfect side for my greenhouses.
The first and third greenhouses were full of wolfsbane. The middle one, I housed a wide variety of collected plants. Each greenhouse had a couple of metres between them, with more plants growing in the space between.
Wolfsbane plants lined our border, along the back end of the greenhouses, but there were none planted on the pack house side, as I didn't want any pack members to be affected by it accidentally.
After nourishing the greenhouses, I carefully made my way back out.
I stumbled slightly, and grabbed Stella's hand for support as we made our way back inside. Using my plant juju powers drained me. Stella kept her arm around me, and made our way to my floor via the lift. Once at my door, she grabbed me and hugged me firmly, before making her way across the hall to her suite. When I first knew Gus was my mate, I made a condition: He had to agree to Stella coming with me to his pack. She would be entitled her own suite. I would bring my best friend, my protector and Beta female all in one. Gus was surprised at first, but soon warmed to idea of an extra pair of eyes keeping me safe. It definitely helped that Gus and Stella got along well.
She was not up in our personal space, but close by just in case. I believe the suite that she was given was originally intended for the Alpha's pup's Nanny? But, seeing as there hadn't been any small children in the Alpha level in so long, Gus thought it best for Stella to use, so she would be close by, especially when he was away.
I headed for a shower. I really needed to get to bed.
Another busy day awaited me tomorrow. I couldn't wait to see all the beautiful ceramic jars Marco was bringing with him! I wanted to be the first to grab one. Alpha privileges. I would really like to have some jewellery made with Gus's ashes. That way, a piece of him would always be close to me. With that thought I must have fallen asleep, because the next thing I knew, it was morning.
