I must have fallen asleep as I don't remember the ending of the movie Stella and I had watched!
Dammit! I'll have to watch the ending later! I hated not knowing how shows finished.
Uh! Gross! I need to brush my teeth pronto! Feels like I have popcorn on them still!
I head down to grab some breakfast.
"Don't eat the sausages! They are still the honey flavoured ones!" Jenny said to me.
"Thanks for the warning!" I grabbed bacon instead to have with my eggs.
Margo handed me my coffee. "Thank you!" I smiled at her, then paused and frowned. "You know, I don't expect you to make it for me right?"
She shrugged one shoulder at me. "I know! I just like seeing you happy." She gave me one of her beautiful smiles, "If I can do that with a simple cup of coffee, I'm happy to do that every morning."
"Naw! You are the best!" I put down my plate and cup and lifted her up into a hug. She squeaked and swatted at me. I laughed putting her down red faced and adorable. She was too cute. I'm so glad her hubby is a carpenter from our own pack so I wouldn't have to worry about losing her to another.
"You know as well as I Adiera other Omegas don't get the best deal. I'm so glad we live in a pack where our opinions and talents are taken into consideration."
The other workers all murmurred in agreement.
"It's hard to wrap my brain around that notion." I said sipping at my coffee.
"Ladies?" All the she wolves in the kitchen had their eyes on me. "If any of your friends or family are in a position where they feel unsafe in their own packs, you have my permission to invite them here for a 'holiday'," I used air quotes at them so they would get my meaning. "I promise to do everything in my power to offer them a safe place. I will not hesitate to get the King involved if necessary." Their eyes went wide and all the women nodded solomnly.
"Please know my door is always open of any of you need to discuss anything. If you don't feel comfortable talking to me or one of the ranked members, please talk to Margo. No one needs to feel like they're alone." I picked up my plate and went to leave. "Thank you for breakfast."
I headed out to join in the morning chatter of the dining room.
I joined Stella at the table who was giggling at me. "What?" I asked her confused.
"You fell asleep hugging the popcorn bowl! Look!"
She showed me a picture on her phone. I started laughing too. My mouth was open, other arm above my head in a crazy angle, the other around the popcorn bowl - Hilarious!
I ate my breakfast ravenously.
Mike and Verona joined us at the table.
"I wonder how many peeps have seen the ad post?" I wondered out loud and opened the Werebook New Moon account.
There was lots of comments! Oh, some of the comments were horrible, mocking my pack members deaths! I clicked on their profiles. Some of them were from fake accounts, so screenshot them, then deleted them without a second thought. Some were from people in different packs!
Ben joined the table with MeiLee, who frowned upon seeing my face. "Are you okay Adiera?"
"Yeah, just negatively on our warrior post."
"Leave it to me!" MeiLee had a wicked grin on her face and happily typed away on her phone while eating breakfast.
Meanwhile, I was checking through the private messages. There seemed to be a lot of interest which was good. I'd look through them properly up in my office. I found it easier to type replies on my laptop, instead of struggling on my phone.
MeiLee looked at me all pleased with herself. "All sorted Adiera!"
"What did you do? Hang on, I'll go check." ... ? "The comments are gone?" I looked at her confused.
"Yep! I tagged their Mother's and their Alpha's and their pack pages and asked if this is what they encourage them to behave like online. They removed their comments pretty quickly."
We all had a chuckle at MeiLee's ingenuity!
"Nicely done!"
"I'm going to start going through the messages. I know we have a week, but I don't want to be overwhelmed, so will be looking at them daily to start the process. Cut off is Friday. Next week we start interviews. We will book in Tuesday onwards to give Mike and Verona a chance to get over their big weekend."
"Appreciated!" Verona raised her hand in thanks.
I got up from the table and put my plate in the kitchen. One of the kitchen Omegas was looking at me wide eyed and was shuffling her feet.
"Are you okay Katie?" I asked concerned.
She shook her head at me in a 'no'.
"Did you want to talk to me about it?" I asked her gently.
She paused in thought, then shook her head 'no' again.
"Would you be happy talking to Margo?"
Katie looked at Margo, then nodded at me.
"When you want to talk, let Margo know Okay?" I rubbed her arm gently.
Margo came up to her with a smile.
Katie nodded with a yes.
"Let me know if and how I can help" I linked Margo who nodded at me.
I headed up to my office and started up my laptop.
Stella came in and sat beside me.
"It's always good to have a second opinion." She said to me drinking her coffee.
"I miss coffee." I didn't realise I'd said it out loud until she chuckled beside me.
"You just had one!" Stella accused.
"Yeah? I want another one! Paperwork always goes better with coffee." I mumbled grumpily.
Let's see what we've got here...
I clicked on the message, would love to be considered... blah blah, very generic.
Let's have a look at his profile.
Dirty memes. Omega jokes? Nope!
I went back to his message.
I replied: Thank you for your interest.
You have been unsuccessful in your application.
Thank you, NEXT!
By the end of it, we had 6 applications pending approval.
Today was the end of the month, so tomorrow the Kingdom newsletter will be coming out. Which means a lot more traffic to our inbox from here on out. It was going to be a busy week ahead.
Stella looked at me, "I'm really intrigued by the Gamma's daughter's application. Caitlyn Rivia."
"I'm concerned she's from the Azure Sky pack. No personal pictures either. Just geography shots. What if she she's applying to spy on us for Alpha Walters?"
"What if she's trying to distance herself from her oppressive pack?" Stella retorted frowning.
"Well, she's been shortlisted, so when we interview her, we can get more of idea her motives."
Stella nodded.
"Now for my regular emails! Yay!" Stella rolled her eyes at my obviously fake enthusiasm.
By the time I got through those as well it was lunchtime!
We headed down for lunch.
After that I needed a nap! Was nanny napping my new normal now?
---------------
I woke up and it was late afternoon.
I got off the bed quickly. Why was I feeling so full of beans?
I think I might head out for a run to burn off some energy!
"Hell yes!" Aspen obviously agreed with me!
"Stella? You up for a run?" I linked her.
"Can't! Busy getting extra warrior training in!" Sounded like she was panting.
"Cool cool. I'm just going let Aspen out for a run!" I let her know.
"No worries. Let me know when you're back so I don't worry."
The sun was setting and the sky was a glorious mix of oranges and pinks. I went further into the trees and took my bike shorts off and my shirt, then shifted into my beautiful chocolate wolf.
"Aspen? What's with our paws? They look more green?"
"Yeah, that's your elven blood maturing."
"Nice!"
"Let's go!"
It was great handing the reins oven to Aspen. As my pregnancy progressed, I wouldn't be able to shift, so Aspen took full advantage of having her freedom to run and play. We ran around for ages through our obstacle course on the lower training grounds.
Aspen suddenly stopped. What was that noise? What was that smell? I was at the boundary of our territory. The bad smell could only mean a rogue. Aspen lowered her body down on the ground near some foliage to wait and see how things panned out. It was dusk now, so maybe the rogue would act thinking it was harder to see them.
Sure enough a few minutes later, the rougue cautiously creeped into our territory. It was a really small wolf. Maybe it was an Omega? Or a child? I watched them intentently to see where they were headed. They stopped at a Brazilian cherry shrub and shifted back into their human form.
It was a small woman!
She started collecting the ripened fruits and eating them quickly while looking around continually. She must be really hungry to risk getting captured.
Should I shift? I was imposing as an Alpha wolf but equally as imposing in my human form at 5'11" with the curvy build of a warrior ...
I decided to shift but stay in a crouched position.
"Hello!"
She froze looking at me like a deer in headlights.
"Please don't be afraid. I'm Alpha Adiera."
The poor frightened woman started whimpering and looking about desperately. She shifted, and took off running. Aspen took control and I shifted, and gave chase! We caught up with her very quickly, before she could go over the boundary line.
I had her boxed in, but I was trying not to hurt her. I changed back to a human and held her up by the scruff of the neck.
"Shift" I said using my Alpha tone on her. She shuddered slightly, then she was back in human form. She barely came up to my shoulder!
"What's your name?"
"Emily, Alpha." she answered quietly looking at the ground.
"Would you like a shower? Some hot food?" When she didn't respond I changed my tone. "Are you going to behave Emily? Or do I need to take you to our dungeons?"
Emily started trembling and shaking her head. "I-I'll be good. I p-promise."
I mind linked Stella, "Can you bring 2 long shirts near our lower training grounds please? I've found a rogue."
"Sure thing boss."
"Come with me. Let's see about getting you a hot shower and some real food."
"Thank you Alpha." She responded, her voice low.
We started heading up to the pack house.
"What pack are you from Emily?"
"New Moon."
"New Moon? Alpha Donald?"
"No. Alpha David. He was my mate originally but he rejected me because I'm an Omega."
"Well you don't have to worry about seeing that guy ever again because he's dead."
"Really? That's the best news I could have heard!" She sighed in relief.
Stella came out from around the side handing me the 2 shirts. I handed the smaller one to Emily and it went down to her knees. Mine barely covered my butt!
"Stella, this is Emily. Emily, Stella."
I mind linked Sally, our house Omega who met up with us once we were inside.
"Sally! Would you be able to take Emily up to one of our guest rooms? Would we have any clothes spare for her?"
"Leave it with me Alpha. I'll get Emily sorted." She smiled warmly at me.
"Thank you Sally. When she's ready, can you escort her down for dinner?"
"Of course! This way Emily."
Now that's taken care of, I can have a shower myself. Normally I'd take the stairs up, but didn't want to flash my fanny so I stealthly made it to the elevator.
"Spoil sport," Stella huffed.
I just laughed at her pouting.
It didn't take me long to shower and get dressed. I headed down to our dining room to wait for Sally and Emily to emerge. Not long after I saw them heading down.
I stayed at the table watching them grab some food together and sit at one of the far tables. I went up to get some food for myself, when I heard a growl. The change of warriors had just walked through the door, and I ran over to where Emily and Sally were sitting, when Derryk growled out "Mate!" I rushed to intercept him, but he dodged me, so I launched myself at his side tackling him to the ground with my knee in his back holding him there, thankfully avoiding the tables and chairs!
He growled at me, his eyes black and feral.
"Dagger! You've just come in from guard duty and you stink! Go clean yourself up. Then you can talk to your mate." I scolded him.
Dagger whimpered and retreated bringing Derryk back in control of himself.
I got up off him and helped him to his feet.
"Thank you Adiera."
"No problem."
He looked longingly towards the two women at the table rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment. "Sorry about that. I'm Derryk. Can I please have your name?"
Emily seemed to stiffen up and shudder at the same time. "It's Emily."
Derryk smiled that gorgeous lopsided grin at her, "Emily" he seemed to be testing it out on his tongue, and it brought a smile to her face. "I'll see you soon Emily." She shyly nodded at him, and he walked towards the warriors units.
I followed close behind.
When he unlocked his door, I said quietly "You're her second chance mate. So, she may be a bit wary of you. Take things slow."
He nodded and turned to go in, but a moment later faced me again. "Thank you Adiera, for stopping me, I'm so sorry ..."
"Stop. We're good. By the way, Emily is staying in the guest rooms if by any chance you get lucky tonight, and don't want to go to the warrior's units," I winked at him then headed back to the dining room.
Emily and Sally were talking together in hushed tones.
"Is everything Okay?"
Emily looked stricken. "Do you think he's going to reject me Alpha?"
"Emily, you were fated to an Alpha, now you're second chance mate is my brother's lead tracker." Emily looked surprised. "Do you know what that tells me?" Emily shook her head 'no'. "It tells me that you must be someone pretty special, and he'd be a fool to even think of rejecting you."
Emily flushed bright pink at the compliment.
"Derryk isn't part of my pack, he's visiting from the Black Claw pack. But I know the Alpha and the Luna very well, and I can honestly say, they are nothing like the Red Moon pack, and I think you'll love it there."
Derryk came out to the dining room all freshly shaved and looking good in casual attire. He walked over to the table and I got up from it I nodded to him.
I'm starving! Time to get myself some dinner, and leave them to it.
I was happy to see all my ranked crew still at the table chatting.
I sat and looked around at them all.
I opened a group link.
"I found a rougue just wandering around inside our territory. That's 2 in the last week. Luckily they weren't working with our enemies! We need better security measures."
