Remembrance Day part 1

I woke up from another successful nap! Yay me! Making pups is exhausting! I went downstairs and found Margo still hanging out with Harry and Marco. They had started on some afternoon drinks by the looks of things. Dan was sitting at a table further along catching up with his friends. It was nice. I snuck into the kitchen. Sweet! There are a heap of leftovers from lunch. We'll could do pasta with the leftovers! I need capsicums. I grabbed some from the chiller and started grilling them on high heat until the skin was slightly black. I peeled the skins off, then threw them into a pot with semi dried tomatoes in the fragrant oils. I got them simmering together and I decided to add some fresh tomato to the mix with garlic. It smelled so good. I wanted it to thicken and stew slow. I added a pinch of salt and a tablespoon of brown sugar and a splash of vinegar. I was busy working away and didn't notice I had an audience. I looked up at all the kitchen staff who turned up for the dinner shift and smiled at them. "Did Margo inform you of any dinner plans for tonight?" "No Alpha." "Does anyone know if she's planning to use the leftovers from lunch?" I got met with blank stares and a few shaking heads. "No? I'll mind link her and ask." "Margo? - Don't move!" "Yes Alpha." "Is it okay if we use the leftovers from lunch and make pasta for dinner?" "Sure thing. Can I do it for you? Would you like me to help?" "Nope. Most of it's done already. Please enjoy yourself and catch up with your friends." I added red lentils to a pot with some chicken stock. They needed to boil up, soften and I'd add them in later, giving the tomato sauce more body. The kitchen really began smelling good with garlic butter sauteing to spread on rolls before crisping in the oven. The salted water was bubbling and the pasta was prepped to go in. The cheese was grated. Just had to gently reheat the lunch meals in 2 different pans. One for the marinara, and one the mushroom and bacon. Both versions got a healthy amount of stewed lentils and tomato sauce to serve everyone. It all got plated up and displayed out for the taking. It was a good way to keep hot plated up meals ready after another tray disappeared. I plated up the last of the pasta sauce and rinsed the pots in the sink. Someone else would be on clean up duty. I joined my table and started tucking in. The pasta was sooooooo good! "Damn Alpha! You tick all the boxes! Kicks ass. Knows how to cook! Is there anything you don't do?" Ben asked with his mouth full of pasta. "Anal" I answered via mind link as I didn't want anyone else overhearing my crassness. Ben chocked on his pasta while the rest of my crew cracked up laughing. "Don't knock it til you try it!" MeiLee waggled her eyebrows at me. I shrugged. "Didn't work for me. I could never relax my muscles enough. Probably didn't help that Gus was very well endowed ... Maybe when I find a hot guy with a micro peen I'll try again." I said in a low voice knowing my friends could hear clear as day. "He'd have to be human! No werewolf owns one of those!" Ben snorted. "I had a human once!" Verona piped up. Mike growled and glared at her. "So disappointing." Verona smirked playfully at Mike. I held in a laugh. With the intensity of Mike's staring, I knew Verona was probably going to be spanked later. Werewolf males are known to be dominant and territorial. Especially with their mate! Stirring them up is guaranteed way to get yourself in all sorts of trouble ... usually in the bedroom! After dinner, I said my goodnights, giving Margo, Harry and Marco side hugs in their chairs with promises of catching up tomorrow. I decided to shower early and head to bed with a good book. It must have worked because the next thing I knew it was morning! I stretched out and grabbed Gus' pillow to smell. I'd spritzed it with the aniseed spray, but it really was a poor substitute for Gus' amazing masculine scent. I looked at the pictures of us both and fought tears. He was so beautiful. So perfect. When werewolves are cremated, it releases their wolf soul back to be reborn. I said a quick prayer to Selene, and thanked her for Gus and his wolf Alto, and for them to be blessed with a longer life next time they are gifted down to Earth. I grabbed my long black dress and put it on over my black underwear. I probably would look better with doing my makeup, but I knew I'd only cry it all off anyway, so there was really no point. I left my hair out and long and put a black hair slide on to keep it out of my face. I slid on a pair of black Mary Jane's to complete the look. I looked pale and sad gazing at my reflection in the mirror. At least my outsides always matched my insides. I needed coffee. I made my way down to the kitchen. It was somber and not the usual light mood. Margo came over and gave me a hug. "Thank you for yesterday! It really relaxed me and now I'm not so stressed for today!" "I'm glad to have helped. You deserve the time off. I want you to start training up 2 replacements as head chef. That way, when you want time off, you'll be able to take it without worrying." "Great idea! We'll start next week." I nodded smiling. I grabbed a fresh cup of coffee and helped myself to some bircher muslie, and headed out to the dining room. I sat down with my crew who were all at the table. "Morning Alpha." Today I am the mourning Alpha. I almost started laughing at the ridiculousness of it all. Widowed at 21. Gus deceased at 28. It was too way too young to be dead. "I thought you all would be training still?" "Nope. Short training for today. It's going to be a long and mentally draining today, so we did a high intensity workout, shower and now breakfast with my Alpha." Ben said smiling at me. All my crew were smiling too and nodded in agreement. "Does this mean I can sort out some more emails while you guys help with setting up?" "Absolutely. Just like any other pack event day." Sweet! I'm still going to get my work done. Otherwise my work load would be doubled tomorrow. It's good too for our pack to see the ranked members helping out. Makes them more approachable. "You coming?" I asked Stella as I got up from the table. We made our way up to the office to start sorting more applications. There wasn't as many today, and we got through them quickly. There were a few business emails I needed to sign off on, and we were back downstairs at 11. "Alpha? Marco is at the gate." I was mind linked. "Thank you. Send him through, and he will need assistance with his jars, just like yesterday please." I greeted Marco at the door with a warm hug, and his shook his son Markus' hand. Dan was there also, and I shook his hand too surprising him. I waved them through to our deck area, where there was a long white table and chairs being set up. We started removing the jars from the crates carefully, and lined them up nicely on the table. All the packaging was removed and put back in Marco's car, so it was all out of the way. We had just finished doing so when our guests had started arriving. I stood outside with my ranked crew and our house Omegas in case anyone needed a hand with their luggage or directions. No one was invited to sleep over, but we left the possibility open to it happening. It was so nice seeing all our town members back at the pack house! I hugged Mr and Mrs Daniel's warmly, then Caliapie. "Wow! Look at you! You've gotten even prettier since last time I saw you!" "Don't remind me" Ben's Dad growled. "At least she gets to stay in the same pack with her mate." I pointed out to him as Sage bounded up to them looking sharp in a blackout ensemble with matching tie. I turned to greet the next guest and froze. "Hello Alpha." Said the pretty Omega in front of me, wearing a skin hugging black mini dress. "Nice to see you Marissa." I said with a smile on my face and lying through my teeth. It was never a pleasure looking at the girl who had warmed Alpha Gus' bed, meeting his carnal needs until he'd found his mate. She was sent to work in the town pack house as soon as he'd brought me here to stop any jealous altercations. Apparently she didn't take the break up well, and stalked Gus for months after he'd called things off with her. I had felt sorry for her, in the beginning, but after finding her on our 4th floor balcony I had finally lost my patience and my temper. She had spent the night in the dungeon, and I had used my Alpha command on her to not come back. Obviously my command had worn off... it had been over 2 years after all... I turned and greeted the next person in line. I wasn't spending an extra second of my time on her. She stood blinking at me for an extra moment then huffed and clicked her heels, walking away from me. I'd finished greeting more guests when I heard "Adiera!" and I was pulled into a hug from Elderon and Elyssa. "Welcome my friends! Ohmygosh! Elyssa! You look amazing! Not long to go now until your little sprite is here!" "I know! I'm looking forward to meeting them and having my bladder back!" Elyssa let out a beautiful melodic laugh. "Hello Fanvier." I said smiling and gave him a shallow bow. He smiled and politely returned a bow back to me. "Adiera, I'd like to introduce you to our dear friend Ramil." Oh wow! He was even taller than Elderon! "Nice to meet you Ramil" I greeted him also with a shallow bow respectfully. "Alpha Adiera." He said and bowed back to me. His rich baritone voice seemed to reverberate through me causing me to shiver slightly. Most of the fairies I had met over the years were all blond haired with blue eyes, and looked like fashion models. Ramil had long dark hair with manicured facial hair instead of the clean shaven look fairies usually prefer. His dark eyes were intent on me, while I tried to be discreet in studying him. "Ramil will be taking over your training when Sprite is born as I'm taking time off." Elderon said with a smile. "I look forward to it." I looked up at him and smiled politely. "I guess they let anyone in to these things!" My Dad came up and laughed shaking hands with Elderon. Mum came over and cooed at Elyssa and her big belly and Zane brought up the rear with Kayla while they all hugged and greeted one another. Zane's Beta Julius and Lexi were right behind them and Damon his Gamma. I shook hands all round with the guys and hugged the women. "Who did you leave at home to protect the pack?" I asked worriedly. "All our warriors." Zane replied with a shrug. With all our ranked members here, it's not like we need anyone extra for protection. Remember, we're taking back our extra warriors today too, so it's all good Sis. No need to worry." "Alpha? Lunch is ready." I received a mind link from Margo. "Everyone inside! Lunch is ready!" I herded everyone inside. We made our way over to our regular table, and I noticed the table in the corner didn't have anyone sitting at it, so I got Zane and Ben to bring it over so we could all sit together. Everyone was waiting so, after everyone was seated I stood up. "Thank you all for making the effort in coming to New Moon and being part of our Remembrance ceremony today. This is a full pack event, so everyone needs to serve themselves. I would like for our families with small children to please go first, then our visitors and Warrior families, our wonderful Omegas and as ranked members, we will be serving ourselves last. Margo our head chef has resigned for the day." I smirked and winked at everyone, "so please let myself or my Beta Ben know if you have any issues. Thank you and enjoy your lunch!" I went into the kitchen and pulled out the esky cooler jug to make the alcoholic punch for the kitchen staff. I added ginger ale, lemonade, wine, vodka, juice and some cordial and gave it a good mix. "Katie? Are you busy?" "No Alpha! Can I help with something?" "I need you in the kitchen to taste the punch please!" "Sure thing! Be right there!" Suddenly there was a loud squeal! I ran out and Katie was in somebody's arms!
