"My wolf is so unsettled and is playing up inside me! I feel like something bad is going to happen!" She burst into tears and Margo and I both went over quickly enveloping her in a hug.

After a while I pulled back from her.

"Katie? Are you sure it's bad? It's not a happy anxious?"

"A happy anxious?" She looked confused.

"Yeah, you know, a jumpy feeling inside. A memo from your wolf that you are going to find your mate soon!"

"Is that what that is? Oh Goddess!" Katie's eyes went wide, then misty eyed conversing with her wolf a moment.

She came back to us, eyes clear. "Kora doesn't know." she shrugged confused.

"I bet you that's what it is." Margo grinned widely at her.

Katie shuffled her feet and went beet red.

"Katie? What do you need?" I asked her. She needed to ask me something. Something was worrying her.

"Alpha, I don't have a dress to wear for the Remembrance ceremony. My good dress, it got a stain on it and I can't get it out, and I spray.. "

I put my hand up to stop her from rambling upset and stressing herself more.

"If you need a new dress, that is no problem Katie. I'm happy to buy you a new dress to wear."

Katie cried harder, so we hugged her more.

"Thank you Alpha."

"I can't help directly." I laughed awkwardly, "I'm bad at shopping. I'll send you with someone with taste. Sage is your man. Junior warrior. Impeccable eye. I'll give them my plastic card." I shrugged. "Buy what you need."

"A man?" She looked a bit worried.

"They identify as gender neutral, but with preference towards masculine, but you can decide for yourself how you view them." I said with a smile.

Katie gave me a confused look. Our fashionista Junior warrior was androgynous. Born in the wrong body to how they identified. Their parents refused to address them by their preferred pronouns, so Gus had invited them to live in the pack house.

"I'll meet with them." Katie said obviously picking up on the language I'd used.

Good. She was a smart cookie.

"Excellent!" I leaned over and whispered in an exaggerated way. "I think I'd better exit the kitchen. Margo is going to kick me out soon."

Margo glared at me playfully and Katie giggled.

"What time do you finish your shift?"

"2:00" She answered quietly.

"It's almost that now!"

"Sage? Are you busy?" I asked them over mind link.

"No Alpha. Just woke up. What's up?"

"Could you do me a favour and get ready to take Katie shopping? She's just finished her shift in the kitchen."

Sage groaned quietly. "Give me half an hour and I'll take her out."

"Thank you! Mind link me when you're ready! You've got free reign of my plastic." I said in a sing-song voice. They loved buying makeup, accessories and other stuff, and if they helped me, I was happy to splurge on things they wanted.

"Now we're talking." Sage answered in their deep voice. It sounded like they were smiling.

"Let me know when you're ready."

"Will do Alpha." was Sage's reply.

"Katie? You've got an early mark. Go get ready." I told her. She looked to Margo for confirmation. She nodded at her, and she sqealed in excitement!

"I'm going to shower and change! I'll be right back!" and with that, ran out of the kitchen.

"Does anyone else need anything?" I asked the kitchen staff but they all replied they didn't.

Half an hour later and they were ready to go. Sage had my plastic card and invited Nari to accompany them. Nari was a junior warrior, who was recently promoted, she could double as their driver and security. Not that I thought they would need it, but it's always best to be on the safe side. Sage was able to protect themselves too, and loved weapons training. I'm sure they would have a couple of knives hidden somewhere in their clothing.

The 3 of them left happily chatting together. I wonder if Sage wanted to work in the clothing store? One of our ladies who worked at the store was almost due to have her pup and I'm sure we could use Sage's eye for fashion in the store. They were 18 now, so able to be out on their own. I wonder how they would go living in town? I might ask them about it when they got back.

"Sage, please find Katie at least 2 dresses. One black for our remembrance ceremony and another lovely one for special occasions. Don't let her refuse. Tell her Alpha's orders. If she needs anything else, just buy it for her. Shoes, underwear whatever."

"Yes Ma'am!"

I yawned.

I'd caught up on what I needed to do, so I went on the bed. I was planning on reading, but my eyelids felt too heavy.

I woke up refreshed.

I wonder how the shopping trip went? I tried to reach out to Sage, but I couldn't. They must still be too far away to mind link.

It was almost 5 so the shops would shut soon, if they hadn't finalised their purchases by now.

Maybe they had gone to grab something to eat after? I checked my phone. No messages.

I shouldn't worry.

I'm sure they are fine.

.....

Nope. It's not sitting well in my guts. I'll just give them a call on their mobile to make sure.

"Hello? Sage? Is everything okay?"

"Hey Alpha. Yes, we had some... issues, but we're on our way back. I'll fill you in when we get there."

"Sure thing. We'll talk soon."

Feeling restless I went and made myself a cup of tea.

My phone dinged.

I checked and I had a message from Mr Daniel's to ring him when it was convenient. I called him straight away.

"Hey Adiera!"

"Hello Mr Daniel's. Is everything okay?"

"It seems we had an issue at the clothing store earlier today. One of our young people found their mate, who was with her boyfriend at the time. There was an altercation."

"Was anyone hurt?"

"Just egos by the sounds of things." Mr Daniel's laughed.

"The kids are on their way back now, so I'll get their side of the story. Hopefully they will work it out between them and I won't need to be involved."

"Good luck kiddo."

"Thanks for the head's up Mr D."

He let out a low gentle chuckle which had me smiling from ear to ear.

"See you Thursday Alpha."

"Looking forward to seeing you all! Bye!"

No one was hurt.

Phew. I know Sage would never throw the first punch... But, they could be a bit volatile. So hearing they had kept themselves in check? I'm impressed.

Oooh I'm looking forward to hearing this!

I could hardly wait.

As expected, first thing Sage said when entering?

"This fukn.c*nt!"

I tried not to laugh. Sage was like a younger sibling to me.

I was failing at keeping a straight face.

"Tea?"

Their whole demeaner changed.

"Yes! Let's!"

The 3 whipped off to get some hot drinks.

I waved them all over the table in a corner I was sitting at for a chat.

"So!?" I asked in exasperation. it was almost dinner time and we needed to take advantage to the time before everyone started coming in! I needed all the deets lickety split!

"So, we found some nice looking stuff for Katie. She was trying some things on in the dressing room. I'm outside the curtain waiting to see what it looks like, and the most adorable girl I've ever seen waltzes up to me and asks with venom in her voice, "Are you in here with your girlfriend?" Sage put their hands on their hips mimicking what went down.

"I turned to her, saw a guy coming up behind her! Raised my eyebrow and asked, "Are you here with your boyfriend?" She huffed and puffed and didn't know what to do!" Hahaha "It was hilarious!" Sage was using their hands while filling me in.

"So, I gave her my number and we're going to catch up here Thursday for the ceremony." They shrugged smiling.

"Sweet! I can't wait to meet her!"

"Oh Alpha, you know her! It's Caliapie! Beta Ben's sister!"

...

"Uh, what's my sister doing?" Enquired Ben looking concerned coming around the corner.

"Did you know she's got a boyfriend?" I asked innocently.

"Yeah, he's younger than she is, and they are waiting to see if they're mates." He looked at the group of us sitting at the gossip table. "Uh, why?"

MeiLee walked over and rubbed his chest, and pushed herself up against him in a side hug, no doubt to calm him down.

"They're not mates." I said and sipped my tea.

He groaned, then looked around the table and his eyes met Sage's smug smiling face.

Ben's eyes went wide! "No way!"

"Haha Yep!"

Ben walked over and gave Sage a fist bump. "Welcome to the family! She's going to steal half your makeup ... and your bathroom stuff ... and probably your wardrobe!"

"Meh. She's cute enough to get away with it." Sage said shrugging. Their voice took on a serious tone, "glad she's not stuck with that judgy a-hole. He asked how she could be okay with having a dickless dude as a mate, and she turned around and told him, 'You were my practice!' Haha!"

I snorted.

"Ooh she's sassy! I think I'm going to like her!"

I turned in my chair to face Sage directly.

"Right. Decision time. Do you want to work at the clothing store? You'd have free reign to order in anything you want to add to the shop and train on the job to be manager?

Or, You can manage the Town pack house with Caliapie? As Beta Daniel's daughter, I thought I'd offer her first dibs for the position. You can both learn everything you need to know, under the guidance of the parentals, to run and manage the whole town pack house!"

Sage grinned widely.

"Talk to your mate about it. It will affect you both. Come talk to me if you have any questions or concerns. Invite Caliapie to stay overnight on Thursday and we can discuss it together on Friday."

"Thanks Alpha."

"My pleasure." I added in mind link just for them: "This is why you couldn't decide what you wanted to do. It was freeing up your brain for this major decision."

I winked at him.

It will sadden me to see them go, but new experiences is what is needed for them to grow into themselves.
