Family

I decided to ring Zane to let him know about Fletch.

He picked up on the second ring.

"Alpha Zane of the panty dropping Black Claw Pack," Zane said while pulling a 'I'm a hot model' on the runway look at me, complete with duck lips!

I snorted then laughed so damn hard I couldn't breathe. Tears were falling down my face and I was wheezing!

He was laughing at the state I was in!

Every time I got myself under control he'd pull another model pose sending me back into hysterics!

"Stop it! You're going to make me pee myself!"

"Ew Adiera! TMI!" He took a swig from his glass I'm guessing was whiskey. It was Friday afternoon after all!

"It's going to only get worse too! Look!"

I held up my ultrasound picture to the screen.

"Is that influenced from the impressionist movement? Good work Dee Dee!"

I hooted.

"Baby Gus Gus is bigger than what he's meant to be! He's the size of a small strawberry instead of a kidney bean!"

"So what you're saying is my nephew is going to be a big boy?!"

"More than likely." I nodded. "We'll have to hold a funeral for my poor vag*na."

Zane almost choked on his whiskey then burst out laughing.

"What the hell is going on in here? I can hear you cackling all the way down the hall!" his mate Kayla looked at the screen. "Oh! Hi Adiera!" she then sat in Zane's lap.

"Look! It's baby Gus Gus!" I showed Kayla my ultrasound picture.

"No idea what I'm looking at, but awesome" she gave me two thumbs up.

"We have some news too! I'm pregnant! We haven't been to the Dr yet, but Zane can smell our pup in there and my scent has changed. So, you're going to be an Aunty!"

"Ohmygosh! Congratulations guys! How exciting! I bet the parentals are thrilled!"

Zane nodded "Of course!"

"Bubby Gus Gus and Bubby Kayne are going to be besties I just know it!"

"Did you just combine our names? I actually really like that!" Kayla looked thoughtful. "I could spell the boys version with a C..."

Zane scrunched his nose up. "Cain the slayer of Able like in the human bible? No way." Kayla looked sad. "What if we spell it K*a*y*n*e? Same name. Better spelling. With a K after their gorgeous mother."

"Naaaaw baby!!!" Kayla obviously liked that suggestion because they started making out completely engrossed in themselves.

When she started fisting his hair I cleared my throat loudly.

*Ahem*

"I did actually ring you for a reason, apart from your killer model poses."

Kayla giggled red as a beet.

"Yes? Something about a loser Alpha?"

"Yeah, that's you by the way."

"Rude!" Zane scoffed.

"So you're okay with Fletch staying here then?"

"No!"

Kayla slapped his chest playfully.

"Maybe."

Kayla gave him a look. "So, if I was at college or studying or whatever and had 2 years to go, you wouldn't want to be with me? Is that what you're saying Zee???"

"Of course not Kay!" I wouldn't be able to live without you, you know that! But we're not talking about us! We're talking about Fletch! He's an amazing warrior! I don't understand why June can't come here?" He gave me a pointed look.

"Because I just got her!" I whined. "She came here as part of the deal from Alpha Donald! That pack wouldn't let her study to become a nurse. She came to my pack because I promised to cover the costs for her to live her dream! She literally arrived the day that Fletch found her!"

"Good! Then she's packed and already to come back with Fletch to our pack then!"

"Nope. Not happening. I'm down 40 Pack members. Including my own damn Alpha! You can either let Fletch join my pack or I'm going to make his life hell trying to fit in seeing June with the schedule I plan for her!"

Both Kayla and Zane gasped!

"You wouldn't!"

"No. Of course I wouldn't! But I'd make him whinge to you so much you'd think I had! Hahaha!"

"You sneaky b***h!" Kayla said smiling at me.

"I know Fletch would ham it up too." Zane griped and pinched the bridge of his nose. He knows me too well. I'd have Fletch so damn happy here Zane would have to drag him back!

"Fine! But I want to be the one that tells him!"

"No worries bro. You'll have the chance to act like the benevolent, understanding and gracious Alpha ... that Dad actually is! Hahaha!"

Kayla giggled and rubbed her mates chest.

"Did that buuurn?!"

The middle finger. That's all I got back! Ha!

"You're both still coming to the remembrance ceremony this week? I'm hoping it will be Thursday?"

"Yep for sure. You let us know if Thursday is definite when you know. We're all coming. Mum and Dad too.

Gus was an awesome dude. Best brother-in-law I could ask for." Zane's voice was getting husky.

"Yeah. He was pretty amazing." I spoke quietly in return.

"Anyways Sis, thanks for the chat. I've still got stuff to take care of before I leave for the day."

We said our goodbyes, then I called Mum.

"Adiera! How's everything going my beautiful girl?"

"Good Mum. How are you guys?"

"We're so happy! Zane and Kayla told us you know their big news! So now we've got 2 lots of grandpups on the way!"

I showed her my ultrasound picture.

"This is mini Gus Gus. It's too early to tell the pup's gender just yet. But they are bigger than what the Dr. expected!"

"Both my babies were on the large side. Zane was bigger than you, and you both came earlier than they thought, so keep that in mind honey."

"Mum, would you want to be there with me? ... When I go into labour?"

"Oh my! I would love to! I love watching the miracle of life! You may need to plan for an outside birth though." She winked. "It's the elf in us. Our bodies crave being one with nature."

We caught up on what's been happening with us both, then said our goodbyes.

I felt a lot happier after talking with my family.

"Are you coming down for dinner Adiera?" Stella mind linked me.

Oh wow! I'd lost track of time again!

"Yes! I'll be right down!" I linked her back then locked my office and headed down the stairs to join everyone for dinner.

Oh my! The smell from the kitchen was amazing! My stomach growled.

By the looks of things everyone had already served themselves so I wasted no time, and piled my plate with Margo's delicious veggie bake.

I came back to the table and Derryk was involved in a lively discussion with Stella.

"I hope you don't mind that I asked Derryk to join our table?" Stella asked in my mind.

"Not at all." I waved her off and got stuck into my food. I was ravenous!

I was contemplating seconds when one of my warriors mind linked me.

"Alpha Adiera? we've found a rouge unconscious near the green houses. We're taking them to the dungeon to wait for you."

"Thank you. I'll be right there."

"Ben, MeiLee and Stella, we've got a rouge situation, if any of you want to join me in the dungeons for questioning?"

I got up and put my plate away then headed outside, with Ben close behind.

The guards at the door let me in and found myself looking at a very dirty looking boy! I wonder if he's old enough to feel his wolf?

The lad started to rouse and groaned.

I mind linked Margo to send someone down with some food.

I asked the guard to unlock the supply closet and got out a fresh washcloth and filled the bucket at the sink with some lukewarm water.

He unlocked the door for me just as our inmate stirred. He sat up quickly and looked at me with his eyes wide.

"Hello. Would you like to freshen up? I have asked for food to be brought for you."

The young man nodded at me and grabbed the bucket I had set down and started cleaning his face then hands.

Ben grabbed the wooden bowl that one of the warriors brought in and squatted down next to our guest.

"Hey man. I'm Ben, Beta of New Moon. What's your name?"

"I'm Ollie. I'm from the Jade Eye pack."

Jade Eye pack? Hmm, Alpha James Manning. I know him only by reputation, and not much at that. I'll have to ask Dad for more information about him and his pack.

"You're a long way from home son. Are you hungry? Surprisingly we had leftovers from dinner! I had 3 helpings." He winked at Ollie who nodded enthusiasticly.

"I'm starving!" He reached for the bowl. "Thank you."

"Manners are good." Ben mind linked me.

Ollie moaned in happiness. Ben and I chuckled knowingly. He finished his meal quickly.

"There may be another helping if you're co-operative." Ben smiled, still squatting, trying not to look too intimidating.

Ollie nodded.

"How old are you? How come you ended up so far from home?" Ben asked.

Ollie's face fell. "I'm 17. My Dad is a warrior in the pack. He somehow found out I was gay, and attacked me. My wolf came forward early to protect me." he shrugged. "That's what Odin told me anyway."

"Odin's your wolf?"

He nodded looking up at me then back down quickly.

"Yes Alpha."

"Smart wolf you've got there." I was surprised as I wasn't projecting my aura yet he still felt my wolf rank.

Ben stood up.

"Do you know anything about our pack Ollie?" I asked. Aspen was feeling protective of this pup but I wanted to make sure his human side didn't have any ulterior motives.

"Just that you're a small pack and that ..." He looked at me wide eyed. He stood up and started backing away from us. "Ohmygosh! You're her! You're the female Alpha! Alpha Adiera!" He was looking a bit panicked. "Th-they are going to come for you!"

"Who's going to come Ollie?" Ben frowned in concern.

"I overheard my Dad and his friends say after the meeting of the Alphas are concluded, if you didn't look like... " he started backing away further shaking his head and whimpering softly.

"Ollie? Look at me." He made an effort to look at my face but didn't quite meet my eyes. "I'm not going to get upset at you. I know whatever they said isn't complimentary, but you're only repeating their words and not your own. Please go on."

He took a deep breath in "They said that as long as you didn't look like they'd put lipstick on a pig, all the unmated ranked wolves are going to challenge you for your pack. They are planning to, one after the other, until you submit, and an Alpha male is once again the head of pack."

Ben and I looked at each other, "We'll discuss this in more depth later." I linked him. He nodded solemnly.

"Well! That was enlightening! Ollie? How about we get you set you up in a guest room in the pack house? You can have a shower, get into some clean clothes and we can go and see if there are more leftovers from dinner," I lowered my voice, "I could go a second helping too."

"Thank you Alpha." Ollie replied softly.

I thanked the guards and took Ollie up to get him settled.

"Fresh towels, toothbrush, soap and everything else in here is new so help yourself! I'll come back shortly with some clean clothes."

I knocked on Liam's door which was on the same floor. Liam is one of our junior warriors and an orphan who lives in the pack house where he can be supervised, fed and clothed.

"Hey Alpha! Is everything okay?"

"Hey Liam! Remember the online order you got delivered the other day? Did you have a chance to sort through and get rid of your smaller sized clothes?"

"Yes! I did! I've got a box full! Hang on, I'll go get them!" He ducked off and was back in no time with a box in his arms.

"Here they are! What's going on?"

"Come with me and I'll show you! Bring the box! "

We went up a few doors to the room I assigned Ollie.

He was already out of the shower and he was chilling on the bed with his towel around him.

"Liam, this is Ollie! Ollie, Liam. Liam has some clothes that may fit you.

When you're dressed, Liam would you mind bringing Ollie down to the dining room? I'm going to see about heating us up some leftovers."

I headed down and found a large flat container in the fridge marked as veggie bake. Bingo! I plated up 3 bowls and put them in the microwave, grabbed us some cutlery then carried it all out to the dining room table for us.

Ollie and Liam came down shortly after and joined me at the table chatting away happily about a game or something or other.

Liam looked at the bowl I put down in front of him in surprise.

"You don't have to eat it!" I made a show of pulling it away, but he hastily made a grab for it.

"Are you kidding? I'm not stupid enough to pass up an extra serving of Margo's cooking that I didn't have to beg for! He chewed thoughtfully, "You know, If I don't find my mate, I think I'm going to marry her!" Liam said while making heart eyes at his food.

"I'm sure she gets proposed to every other week" I laughed. "That was so good. Are you still hungry Ollie? Would you like anything else to eat? Or maybe some dessert? I'm sure I could find some chocolate chip cookies in the cupboard?"

"Cookies sound amazing!" Ollie exclaimed.

"Did you guys want to make yourselves a hot drink? Want to show Ollie where everything is please Liam? I'll go grab the cookies"

Liam showed Ollie the hot drink station, while I went into the kitchen on the hunt for cookies.

While I was searching, I overheard the boys talking ...

"So, Ollie, are you going to be staying here?"

"I don't know man... but I do know I can't go home. My family won't accept me." he lowered he voice into a whisper, "I hope your Alpha doesn't make me go back."

"I don't think you need to worry. Alpha Adiera isn't like other Alpha's." Liam replied in a hushed tone.

I came out with Margo's biscuit box.

"Found it!"

We sat and had hot drinks and cookies just chatting about nothing and everything. When the boys had finished, I put the container back where Margo had hid it.

Then we all made our way back up to the first level and I walked the boys to their rooms.

"Tomorrow is Saturday, so no school! When you get up, head down to the dining area where we just were and help yourself to some breakfast. Knock on Liam's door if you don't feel comfortable going by yourself." Liam gave him a nod in affirmation. "I'll come find you when I get the chance." I smiled at him warmly. "Good night guys."

"Good night Alpha." They both replied.

Damn! I was sooo tired!

I showered quickly and fell into bed. Hopefully I will get a sleep in tomorrow.
