"Father...."
Staggering back, it was all hitting him at once. Flashes....one by one...seeing the events unfold through her eyes. It was painful, his knees hit the ground. His daughter taking a fatal stab meant for her mate. Her leading Cocidius to the cave with the council right behind them. The Assassin's crest. The council's secret group of killers. They did this.
His daughter's last moments with Cocidius. She outsmarted him by locking him in the tunnels, making the rogue believe she was coming, then telling him to leave.
The Assassins had a witch with them, a powerful one at that. Liliana knew it was a matter of time before they got in.
"Father....."
Crius crawled to her bed, so much pain.....his daughter was in so much pain. As He laid there, he sensed her. Turning his head to the right, he saw her laying beside him.
"Father....when you see this I will no longer exist in this world. I want you to know that I am not afraid, I have made peace with my fate. The Council may take my life but they cannot take away my resolve. Do not blame yourself. I am truly blessed, most orphans are lucky to have known love at least once in their life. I have known the love of a true father, people like Cyrene and Jasper, most recently my mate."
At this moment Crius felt her life force start to dim, her heart beat slowing down. "Please do not hate Cocidius, I left him with no other options but to find you. I ask that you allow him to take my place in your heart. Be there for one another. Do not let him die, otherwise the council wins and my sacrifice would be in vain. Tell Jasper that I'm sorry I could not keep my promise to him. I can feel myself fading father....I don't have much time....I love you and will always be your Tiger Lily."
As soon as he raised his hand to touch her cheek she disappeared. The Originals body shook with a mix of grief and anger as he let out a gut wrenching roar that boomed through the cave and forest.
As soon as Crius got back to his mansion he went straight to her bedroom. Even after all these years he left it untouched, hoping for the day when it was safe enough to bring her back. Looking down at his ring he couldn't help but hold out some hope, there was still so many unanswered questions.
The blood in his jewel was fading, he needed to get those answers fast and he knew just the person that he could get it from.
Looking up he sensed Jasper. "Enter."
Walking in with a big disapproving look on his face. Crius braced himself for the Jasper level scolding he would receive. "So you said you would be back before morning."
Scratching his head Crius averted his eyes. Trying his best not to relive everything he saw in the blood memory. "Tiger Lily left me something.....so I was delayed."
Dropping his cold stance Jasper immediately perked up. "Lily's alive?"
Crius shook his head "No.....I don't know....She left me her final goodbyes, wanted me to tell you she was sorry about some promise you two made?"
Jaspers eyes flashed emerald green he shut them, jaw clenched. It was rare for the original to see that, usually his second in command had unbelievable control over his emotions. He too loved Lily.
Sighing Jasper looked at him "I will kill them all Crius, they will all suffer for what they did to her. Now that I know you are back I will go gather Intel on where they took her."
Stopping him, Crius put his hand on Jaspers shoulder. "No need I have that covered. Tonight we will be having an unexpected guest. Tell the men to back off and let her through, making sure she doesn't spot them. Allow only her and no one else in."
Jasper crossed his arms, annoyance evident in his tone. "and who exactly is this guest?"
Crius's eyes darken, he could not hide his contempt. "The Huntress. The look on her face when she realized I was keeping Cocidius told me everything. Auryon isn't used to failure, she will attempt to kidnap him and I will be there to greet her when she does. I want to know where my daughter is, one way or another I will get it out of her."
Sitting down Jasper shook his head "You know her dog will be right behind her...."
Grinning, Crius started to walk out the room "That sounds like a you problem, old friend."
Putting his head in his hands, Jasper resigned himself to his fate "This is going to be a long night."
