Chapter 8

Crius gives the order to open the cell. Cocidius is on his knees. With his arms and legs shackled to the floor. It seems as though dumping him in ice water was the way to wake him because he's drenched.

Crius pulls up a chair planting it directly in front of Cocidius.

"Kill Me." was the first thing he heard out of the rogues mouth.

"Now why would I do that? I have questions that I suspect you have the answers to and besides we haven't been formally introduced yet. My name is Crius."

Jolting up the rogue stares at him with pleading eyes. "King Crius! I was told to look for you. My mate, she sent me....told me to find you....they killed her.....my mate....there was nothing I could do....it was a trap...my mate."

Holding his hand up Crius had to calm the rogue down, he wasn't making much sense. Then again, losing your mate will make you go insane. It was rare for a vampire to find one. You could consider yourself both lucky and unlucky to have one because that mate could become a weakness. The man in front of him was proof of that. He was irrevocably broken by the demise of his other half.

"Hold on now. One thing at a time, who told you to look for me? Which vampiress sent you?

Shaking his head "NO. Not a vampiress, she was a human. My Liliana. She told me you saved her once, when she was little. That you raised her....My Lily...I can no longer feel her..."

"Tiger Lily...." Crius stood up, he couldn't believe what he was hearing. Her name brought him back...Cyrenes flower garden...it was behind his house. She made it specifically for him so when he looked out his office window he would see something beautiful. Tiger Lilies to remind him of the happy times the three of them spent together.

The garden...he remembers being chased by a then 8 year old Liliana through it. "Why are you so slow my little Tiger Lily?" Laughing he loved to see that cute little scowl on her face.

"It's LILIANA! and you can't use your abilities thats cheating! Cyrene! He's cheating again!" The tough and spunky little 8 year old began to cry.

Walking into this spectacle Cyrene gives him a disapproving glare. "Crius...."

Raising his hands in defeat "I know, I know. I'm sorry my little Tiger Lily." He scoops her up in his arms. She sniffles into his shirt mumbling "It's Liliana." Making him and Cyrene laugh.

His little Tiger Lily....she was an orphan. He was the one that found her. When she was 2 she was sold to a group of rogue vampires that had a taste for children's blood. Hers were particularly rare...she was barely alive when he slaughtered the group. Using his own blood to revive her.

They were inseparable after that, he even named her. She was the closest thing he's ever had to a daughter. No, she WAS in fact his daughter. His precious little Tiger Lily.

After Cyrene died he found good humans to raise her and paid them a substantial amount of money to take care of her. They lived on the border between vampires and humans. So he could periodically watch over her from a distance.

Because of what happened to Cyrene...it was even more important to keep Lily safe....keep her with her own kind. He thought it was the best thing for her...he was wrong. So wrong. Her blood was the clue. As much as he tried to keep her away from vampires, how did he not realize her mate could be one. HER MATE. He put her in danger.

Red. Red was all he saw. Grabbing Cocidius by the throat he raised him off the ground. "WHERE IS SHE!"

Choking, the rogue could barely speak. "They......have....her." Anger and Grief rising inside of Crius "AND YOU LEFT HER THERE!" he couldn't stop himself, tightening his hold.

"She......told me to.....let....her go." Cocidius's body started to go limp.

"Crius stop! Liliana wouldn't want this, you're going to kill him!" Jasper tried to pry Crius off of Cocidius but was swiftly sent flying, his back hitting the cold stone walls.

"WHO KILLED HER!?" Crius's rage shakes the very foundation of his house, his powers were going out of control.

"The.......Council." The last thing he spoke before Crius let him go. Cocidius falling unconscious to the ground.
