♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤ Elijahs POV ♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤ Pacing back and forth, he couldn't believe he let Aury go off on her own. The thought of her in a room alone with that leech, was enough to drive him insane. He has always been this way, especially when it comes to her. Whenever she's in danger, this feeling comes over him. Like something inside of him is trying to claw its way out. Like he would burn everything down just to protect her. It wasn't because he was her second either. It's been this way since they were kids. She was the first child he had ever met, his first actual friend. For years his mother had kept him hidden. He never knew why, though he suspected it had something to do with whoever his father was. The only rule his mother gave him was to never leave the house. Never to be seen. He disobeyed her once and still lived with the regret. Being a foolish 7 year old that didn't know any better, he snuck out one day and wandered through the forest. That was the first time he saw her. Auryon. She was down by the lake throwing rocks across the water. Aury was 6 years old then, still as fearless as ever. Elijah recalled how he hid behind a tree so she wouldn't see him. Without looking behind her she yelled "YOU CAN COME OUT!" He didn't answer. "Are we gonna play or are you gonna hide behind that tree all day?" His cover was blown. Elijah couldn't help but smile at that memory, though it quickly became bittersweet. That was the day the council found him with Aury. His mother was punished, sent on a mission she did not return alive from. He stopped pacing, the guilt he still carried weighed heavily on him. He disobeyed his mother's one request. Then failed to protect her. He will never make that mistake again. Auryon.....his Aury.....she's taking too long. He looks across to Jasper, who's watching him like a hawk. When their eyes meet, Jasper raises his eyebrow "Finally stopped pacing, have we?" Elijah nods. "I have." "Good, because it was annoying. I was tempted to end you." In response Elijah blows him a kiss, then a wink. "You know you love me." Jaspers jaw drops "I could kill you in a hundred different ways." Before Elijah could respond they were interrupted by one of the guards. "Sir we are having some issues with the perimeter shift change." Exasperated, Jasper follows the guard but not before leaving 15 of his men to watch over Elijah. He shook his head, Jasper underestimated him. To honor his budding bromance, he'll give it a good 2 minutes before looking for Aury. The moment Elijah finished that thought he heard something hit the ground. No. Not something a body. Aury. As soon as he stepped forward the guards closed in on him. Amateurs. Using his speed he quickly incapacitated them. "Enjoy the nap guys." He sped towards the room where he heard the loud thud. Breaking down the door, nothing prepared him for what he saw or the rage that filled him. He was no longer in control of his own body. ♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤ A/N I've got to admit, this was a surprisingly fun chapter to write. I say surprisingly because initially I didn't intend to write this Elijah POV chapter. I'm glad I did though. It gives you a glimpse into Elijahs past and I really love the relationship between him and Jasper. *Spoiler Alert* Future books will be on Elijah as well as both his and Aurys parents. The gods will even get involved (possibly go to war) in one of the books. My daughter also wanted me to tell the story of the rogue aka Cocidius.
