Chapter 7 It’s Finally time to begin

718 Words
Chuck’s POV The girl bolted down the hall toward the girls bathroom. She’s practically glowing. It makes me want to vomit. My skin crawls at the very thought of being here in this human school. Teenagers are so gross, all gangly and awkward. Barely able to contain their various bodily fluids. I pushed off of the wall and made sure the glamour the witch applied to me was still firmly in place. I still looked like the frail little freshman boy she thought she knew. I pulled out my cellphone as I watched her little friend come slinking out of the classroom a few minutes later. “What?” The rough voice on the other end snarls at me. “It’s the middle of the Damn day you aren’t supposed to be contacting me.” “I know that, however, I think you might be interested to know that the Angel is awakening.” I say just as light begins flashing down the hall and I hear a very loud THUMP. “In fact… I believe she may have just had her first full transformation.” “That’s not possible she isn’t of age yet.” He snaps at me “Not only is it possible, it is happening . AND right now!” I end the call and slip outside before I can be seen. I run to the edge of the parking lot and shuck off the necklace the witch gave me and with the glamour of “Chuck the freshman”. I grab my black leather jacket and throw on my full face helmet. Swinging my leg over the sleek black Honda Shadow, I turn the key in the ignition and the motorcycle purrs to life. The ride is smooth almost all the way down Bay st. past SCAD to Venson’s Cafe. I park my bike and saunter into the cafe. It’s a small hole in the wall place mostly frequented by college kids and hippies. Art students who are going to “change the world” don’t notice as much when you hang around a little weird crowd. Oh yeah by the way, I’m a demon… well half anyway. And my name isn’t Chuck. And I’m not exactly sixteen either. “Took you long enough Aaron.” Abaddon sat at a table by the front window of the Cafe. Um yes that Abaddon. King of the Abyss, The Destroyer of all things. Big Bad Demon Abaddon. Also known as … my dad. “It’s time to set things in motion. With the rise of the girl it means this city is Finally ready to fall. We can take over here and move on, soon the the southern coast of this continent will follow.” “What’s so special about this place, and right now?” I surveyed him, to the Humans he probably looked dashing. Tall and leanly muscled with a full head of raven black hair, a neatly trimmed black beard. Black depthless eyes barely rimmed in gold. His human form was tanned and toned and he always dressed to impress even the richest of mortals, but nothing kind lived behind those eyes. He was everything menace, hate and malice. He was hard to please and impress. And no matter what I was never a good enough heir for him, half breed that I am. “We could have just killed her and been done with it. I was right there before she came into her power today, one flame… Poof dust done.” I sneer. “Right and you would have been thrown back to my throne near the abyss for your trouble. She is protected. It is not so simple as all that, you don’t think I’ve tried to get to her line before. You don’t think if it were that EASY to kill off Archangels that they wouldn’t all be dead long ago? I need you to keep the new angel distracted, so she doesn’t learn to wield her power and therefore her purpose. While I work on the higher powers.” “So I’m a babysitter. Great!” I say sarcastically. “ I guess I should get back to school and make my excuses then, though I’m sure she’s going home for the day. Poor traumatized Rabbit.”
