As William entered the room, he smiled at Alice and Lucy. He had his hands behind his back and he looks suspicious. Alice was sitting on a chair to the left of Lucy, so he walked around the bed to stand on her other side. All the while, he was careful to not let either of them see what was in his hands.
With his hands behind his back, he leaned in and kissed Lucy. Then, as he straightened up, he produced a bundle of various colored roses. At first glance, Lucy saw blue, purple, yellow, and red – but she felt certain that there were other colors as well.
Sensing that they might want some alone time, Alice made an excuse as to why she had to leave. Before she left though, Lucy smiled in such a way that Alice knew she was saying, Thank you.
