William looked at Lucy and said, “You need to trust me and cut me some slack. I didn’t do anything wrong and I would never do anything to intentionally hurt you.”
Lucy sighed as tears came into her eyes. It made sense that William would never abandon Vivian, especially now that she could see the matter through his eyes. She touched his hand lightly. “I am so sorry,” she cried. “Everything you do is right! It is me who’s been wrong! I have been wrong all along, and I want to be better to you in the future…”
William embraced her, patted her on the back, and said, “Let’s put this behind us. You don’t need to cry. We have spent too much time already, quarreling over what should have been a non-issue. What happened last night was a complete accident. I can’t promise that it won’t happen again
