Lucy smiled as she accepted William’s invitation for a dinner date, and then she turned ** off before all of the comments could bring her down. She understood why he had made the invitation public but, now that it had been done, she wanted to distance herself from it as much as she could.
Looking up, she realized that Haley was still there, dangling from a hook of her own design. She’d planned to use him to catch a bigger fish. Now though, she wondered if William’s invitation might have some connection to their three-hour meeting. If so, she wished him no ill will.
Instead of ripping into him, she looked at what she was wearing and asked him for his opinion about it.
Haley took a glance at Lucy's aqua blue one-piece dress, sighed in relief and said, "That dress looks perfect on you!"
