Byron’s mother began to wail as they received the news that Christina had lost her baby. The family rallied around her, but she was completely inconsolable. The old lady cried, “Bullshit,” and accused the doctor of being a quack, which didn’t make matters any better. “You wouldn’t recognize a dead body if one bit you on the nose!” she hissed.
Her husband apologized for her behavior and he asked how Christina was doing.
The doctor turned to Byron and said, “Your wife will pull through. She will need a lot of rest though. It may be hard for her to accept the fact that her baby is gone, so you will need to be there for her. You will need to be strong and you must be a comfort to her.”
