When Jenny’s head hit the floor in the hospital, her mind took her back to the first time that her and her brother had been with each other in a “Biblical way”. It had been in their childhood home, after a baseball game. At first there had been her, Lizzy, and Steven, laughing, drinking, and playing Yahtzee.
Things were going well until Jenny realized that Lizzy was gone. It happened that fast, as it often does in dreams. One minute her friend was there, and the next she was not. Jenny wanted to run, but her body was running on autopilot.
This was a charade. Jenny had been here before. The past could not be changed. It was there to be relived and repeated over and over again, in saecula saeculorum.
After Lizzy left, Steven strode directly to Jenny.
