Chapter 27: Moving Up
The Globian Industries branch office in Muchikak was nowhere near as grand, luxurious and symbolic as their main headquarters, but it had a great skyscraper’s view nevertheless. There were also far more non-Globians working there, making for a more diverse and inclusive workspace. Certainly, the company was pragmatic enough to promote whoever proved more competent and profitable, but Sloch could not help but feel like, in practice, Globians got a head start over aliens like himself. His brief time working as the doorman to the Industries’ headquarters were proof of that. He could take on any of his colleagues in combat, but it was always a Globian getting the security and enforcer jobs. Eventually he did get the promotion, but it came accompanied by a transfer to the Nikal homeworld. No
