GRACE An annoying itch disturbed the otherwise peaceful state I was in. I wanted to scream out to let me be in peace, but I couldn’t open my mouth. The soft darkness began to move away from me, leaving me behind unprotected. I wanted to reach for it and wrap myself inside the numbness once again. But it wouldn’t listen to me. It kept leaving me behind in the light. Moments later, I became aware of my own body. The position of my hands, my legs, my head. I was lying on a surface. A distant sound of life was coming from somewhere, but I didn’t even try to convert it into anything meaningful, I just wanted to go back into the darkness.
