CHAPTER 7- FACING GRANDFATHER'S WRATH

GRACE

She stood on her tip-toe and stretched her hands upwards to take something from the roof of the cupboard. When I looked at what she was holding, I saw the dress that my grandfather bought for me yesterday when he visited. Oh, so she wanted this dress and does she think she can take the dress so easily in my presence in my room?

I haven’t seen the dress yet but I know that it must be beautiful since my grandfather has picked it up for me and now that Sophia also wants that dress it means it’s beautiful. Before she could leave, I cast a spell on her that created an invisible barrier before her which caused her to hit her head hard whenever she tried to get out, she would hit her head every time and by the time the effect of the spell was getting down she had a big swollen bruise around her head.

Then I went inside the bathroom and came out removing the spell of invisibility and by that time Sophia had left the dress on the floor and she had run away. Since she must have heard the sound of the door unlocking.

I went and picked up the dress, I was going to see the dress but then Aunt Alicia called me downstairs for lunch. I kept the dress back in the cupboard and cast a spell of invisibility which caused the dress the become invisible.

When I went downstairs, I saw Grandfather has again come to visit us today. Is something wrong with him or why is he coming repeatedly for two days straight and because of this I’m not able to have my food in peace. Sophia came down with a swollen head and as I saw her, I couldn’t control my smile and I burst into laughter. Everyone looked at me confused as to why I was laughing so much.

“Grace, may I know the reason why you are laughing when your sister is hurt.”

“I’m sorry grandfather but I suddenly remembered something funny and I couldn’t control my emotions,” I said why looking down still smiling.

Sophia came and sat down and when Aunt Alicia asked her about what happened she said that she fell in the bathroom while bathing. Nice one Sophia.

We were eating our lunch silently just in between talks when Sophia again decided to create a ruckus. Why does she want to mess with me so badly?

“Grace, where did you go last night? You know I was so worried about you when we couldn’t find you in the morning?”

SHIT!! Not in front of Grandfather Sophia.

“WHAT?” grandfather growled in anger.

“Where did you go last night? And where were you in the morning?” Grandfather questioned me but before I could answer Sophia spoke on behalf of me.

“Grandfather we found her lying unconscious in the forest in the morning.” The fake sweet voice that she was using was making me want to puke. And I knew she was telling this purposely to Grandfather since that is what happened to my mother.

She also disappeared for two weeks and then when she returned, she was pregnant and couldn’t remember anything.

“Sophia, shut up! Grandfather, let me explain.” I said in desperation because I knew if I did not explain to him now things would get out of hand and it would not be a good thing for me.

“Explain what? Do you also want to become like your mother and humiliate our family? Do you not understand how I felt when my daughter went missing and came back impregnated? Why have I given so much protection to you, so that you go out at night and then be found lying in the middle of the forest?” Grandfather kept on accusing me and those statements were perching through my heart, it’s like he has stored everything in his heart just to get it out later and now is the time. I wanted to cry but I will not shed a single tear in front of him.

“Don’t you think your birth has given us enough shame to last for a lifetime and instead of trying your best to become a good granddaughter you are here going around at night becoming a slut.” As soon as my grandfather said those words, I knew I couldn’t control them anymore. And slut, what have I done to be given this name?

Uncle Jeremy was trying to calm down Grandfather while Aunt Alicia was trying to control Elijah who was now standing in front of Grandfather.

“Don’t you dare use that word for my sister and have you listened to her point of view or her explanation of why she was out at night in the forest? Stop assuming everything bad about Grace.” Elijah growled at Grandfather.

“Is this how you talk with your elders? Jeremy this is what you have taught your son?” Grandfather was now furious with Elijah.

Sophia on the other hand was sitting at the dining table and was having the ice cream. Seriously, this b***h is going to pay for what she did now.

I calmed myself and then asked Elijah to go out of the house for a walk because if he had been here the situation would have become worse.

Elijah took his car keys and left and on the other hand, Uncle Jeremy managed to calm down Grandfather. I need to explain to him because I don’t want him to think bad about me even though that will do nothing, but still.

Grandfather who was sitting in the living room with my uncle and aunt looked at me and immediately got up from the couch and was leaving when I asked him if I could talk with him.

“Grandfather, I’m sorry for hurting you, I didn’t mean to go out in the middle of the night, it’s just that I was feeling unwell and wanted to go for a run that’s why while running I didn’t notice the distance where I had come. And after that, I got so tired that I lost consciousness. I’m sorry again grandfather.” I said my part of the explanation and left the room. I know he was still angry so I don’t expect him to suddenly come and apologize to me for using that word.

I was in my room when Sophia came and asked me to give her my dress.

“Grace, Grandfather has asked you to give me the new dress that he brought yesterday for you.” She said with that arrogant tone of hers.

“Exactly he bought that dress for me then why should I give you,” I spoke.

“You can go and ask him. He is sitting downstairs in the living room.” She said while looking at her newly manicured nails which she had gotten done yesterday.

I went downstairs to ask him about what Sophia was saying and it turns out that Sophia had by mistake forgotten or on purpose forgotten to bring her dress for tonight and using the perfect opportunity she asked Grandfather to give her the dress since I already had a new dress which I was earlier going to wear.

I gave her the dress or more likely she took the dress by force from my hand and while leaving, the wicked smile she had on her face, by God I would have punched at her face.

There was still some time left for the event so I thought of calling Eva and telling her about Sophia accompanying us on our ride to Alpha’s house.
