CHAPTER 4

Chapter 4: Nicholas Tessa’s point of view His entire being in my life was strange. He gently walked his way towards me, like I was the only person in the training hall. He never took his gaze off me, and I could feel that his gaze, which was cold, became different. He was staring at me with this sort of longing and warmth. It made me frown. I was seeing him for the first time, and he was probably also seeing me for the first time, so why would he look at me that way? “Is there perhaps anything I can do for you?” I asked him. “You keep staring at me. Who are you? Do I know you?” I asked him again. I felt someone pinch me and whisper, “Are you crazy? Don’t you know who you’re speaking to? Do you want to die that much? Quickly, change your question.” It was one of the females who was standing up for me. I looked at the man before me. What was so special about him that made everyone tremble? I didn’t know, nor could I point out any particular thing apart from his well-built body and dominant aura. I have seen the Alpha of our pack once or twice in my past life, so he was not the Alpha. Well, I did not have another spare life to waste. If he is so powerful and feared, I should act like everyone else before I get myself killed by this stranger. But before I could apologize or look for another way to cancel what I just said, Ray quickly picked it up and said, “Did you just speak to him that way? You should be punished for that. How can you speak to the Al—” He wasn’t done talking when the stranger raised his hand for him to keep his mouth shut, and Ray stopped talking. How is it possible? Ray will never obey anyone apart from his Alpha, but this stranger was not the Alpha. Why would he obey him? This was confusing, but I knew only one thing: this person has to be powerful. The aura could already say it, and with the way they were acting,. The stranger smiled, staring at me. “Why the commotion?” he asked Ray, still staring at me. “We were having a little misunderstanding. I was talking to her, and she was acting out of place,” he said. Out of place? I almost scoffed. “I intend to officially make her mate today, but she—” The stranger turned sharply to Ray, finally removing his gaze from me. “What did you just say? I said I was going to make her mate officially. What do you mean, you’re—” Ray nodded. “I was going to mark her, but she kept saying ridiculous things like she wasn’t his mate. She hasn’t made that decision yet.” As soon as Ray said those words, I noticed that the crowd was beginning to shake in fear. It was obvious that something like that would not be in my favor. But surprisingly, the stranger took my side and said, “Let the lady make her decision first.” This word made everyone speechless—everyone apart from me. He smirked. “You can do as you please,” he said to me. I nodded with my usual innocent act. He walked closer to me, closing the space between us. I intended to step back, but he dragged me forward, holding me in place and not allowing my movement. His face came closer to mine, and my heart raced. What was he doing? Didn’t he hear that I had a mate, and he was right here? He diverted to my ear and said, “I can see through your pretense, but I guess they don’t." . Before I was able to grasp what he said, his scent filled my nostrils. It was an enchanting fragrance like nothing I have ever perceived. It took me some minutes to get over the scent and make sense of what he said. I gasped; he stared at me with a smile, and I frowned. I knew he was not good news. His seeing through my pretense was an obvious example. He pulled away and walked out of the arena. The other man that followed him kept looking like he saw a ghost. This time his eyes were on Ray; he also followed the stranger out. As soon as he left, everyone surrounded me. “What did he say?” they inquired. I quickly thought of something to tell them, so I said, “Nothing much, just that he hasn’t seen me before.” “Then why did he have to whisper?” One of the ladies frowned. “I wish I was the one he whispered to,” I could hear someone out of the ladies say. “Who is he?” I asked. They looked at me like I had two heads. “Are you telling me that you don’t know our Alpha son?” Alpha son? Yes, I could remember now. We did have an Alpha son. He was known for his cold nature and aloof personality. He was also the type of person who hated it when two couples were separated. It was like he had a past with something like that. No wonder they were scared. He could go the extra mile, like locking up the person who tried to bring some understanding or separate the couples. Sometimes he would go as far as killing. He was also known to be heartless, and when with a sword, he kills without mercy. Now there was another question in my mind: why did he not act like he did? He was not supposed to allow me to refuse being marked by Ray, so why? The ladies were gathering around me like I was the key to their fortune. I needed something to distract them so that I could leave. I looked around. Ray was not here. He must have run off when he saw that we were not paying attention to him. “Where is Ray?” I asked, bringing everyone’s attention back to him. As they began to ask themselves and search, I used the opportunity to leave. I didn’t want to bother too much about the Alpha son. He was never in my life before, and he is probably just a trivial subject in my life. I brushed it off and went home. On getting home, I saw different expensive brands of cars in our compound. I got cold feet at the expectations of what might have happened. I have never seen this scene, not in my past life. Why do I keep seeing new things today? I saw two men at the entrance; one of them was not familiar, while the other was the man who followed that stranger. Why was he here? I entered my home, only to see a stranger sitting in my sitting room. “What was going on? Why are you here?” I said to him:. His face lit up upon hearing my voice. “I have been waiting for you,” he said, standing up and walking to me. He stopped at a distance and said, “Hi, sister, it is I, your soon-to-be stepbrother, Nicholas.”
